Mike Trout Wed Apr 30 8:00pm ET

Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington said that outfielder Mike Trout (knee) felt soreness in his left knee when he hit first base in Wednesday's 9-3 loss to the division-rival Seattle Mariners, and the Angels removed him as a precaution. He went 1-for-2 in the game before being replaced by Jo Adell in right field. Trout said his knee is already feeling better and has undergone some tests. The 33-year-old three-time MVP and 11-time All-Star said he will try to play in Thursday's series opener against the visiting Detroit Tigers. This is not what fantasy managers that selected Trout at a discount this year want to hear with the calendar about to flip to May, but as of right now, it sounds like he's just day-to-day. Trout had yet to miss a game this year, appearing in all 29 games (22 of them in right field). Last year, he made it just 29 games before suffering a torn meniscus that eventually required surgery. Trout started strong in 2025 but is now hitting .173 with nine homers and 18 RBI.

Brice Turang Wed Apr 30 7:50pm ET

Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang has been scratched from the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Chicago White Sox due to undisclosed reasons. With Turang starting on the bench, Isaac Collins will lead off and play second base in place of Turang. Fantasy managers need to pull Turang from their lineups and check back for word on why he isn't playing. It's likely an injury, as the 25-year-old has been strong at the plate of late, hitting .325 (13-for-40) with five RBI, eight runs scored and three stolen bases in his last 10 games. He's been strong all season long with a .317/.368/.408 slash line as Milwaukee's primary leadoff man. Collins will face White Sox right-hander Shane Smith and will carry some DFS sleeper appeal in the leadoff spot. He has gone 9-for-37 (.243) with a homer, two RBI, two steals and six runs so far in 2025.

Erik Swanson Wed Apr 30 7:20pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Erik Swanson (forearm) is headed back to Toronto to undergo further evaluation. The reliever was set to begin a rehab assignment on Tuesday but was scratched due to a setback. Fantasy managers should pay close attention to his status as the team could opt to slow down his recovery process if his forearm has not fully healed. Swanson has been sidelined with carpal tunnel syndrome in his forearm. Last season, the 31-year-old battled injuries, logging just 39 1/3 innings of work. However, during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, Swanson was a reliable high-leverage option in the Toronto bullpen. During these two years, he held a 2.23 ERA, 1.01 WHIP, and tallied 43 holds. When he does make his season debut, he should reclaim a high-leverage role in the bullpen.

    From RotoBaller

Dylan Moore Wed Apr 30 7:00pm ET

Seattle Mariners infielder/outfielder Dylan Moore (hip) is expected to be activated off the injured list when first eligible. On Wednesday, the Mariners placed Moore on the 10-day injured list with a minor strain. It appears that Moore should be cleared to return to the starting lineup on May 7. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status over the week in case he faces a setback. The 32-year-old has enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign, holding a strong .286/.346/.557 slash line with six home runs and five stolen bases. Moore has done most of his damage against southpaws as he has posted a stellar .385/.485/.962 line against southpaws. While he remains out, fantasy managers should expect Leo Rivas to see more time at the keystone and Ben Williamson to see more time at the hot corner.

    From RotoBaller

Max Scherzer Wed Apr 30 6:40pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays starting pitcher Max Scherzer (thumb) completed another bullpen session on Wednesday. Blue Jays manager John Schneider noted that the session went "fairly well." Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the 40-year-old's progression. However, seeing that he has completed two bullpen sessions without facing any setbacks is a positive sign. Scherzer hit the 15-day injured list following his season debut. In this outing against the Baltimore Orioles, the right-hander was removed from the contest after just three innings of work. If he is able to continue to increase his workload, he could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment in the coming weeks. Last summer, Scherzer battled injuries as well but was effective when on the bump, holding a 3.95 ERA with a 1.15 WHIP. He remains a solid stash in deeper formats for the time being.

    From RotoBaller

Kyle Higashioka Wed Apr 30 6:40pm ET

Texas Rangers catcher Kyle Higashioka (hamstring) is managing a hamstring injury. Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reported that the backstop may need an IL stint but is currently day-to-day. Earlier on Wednesday, the Rangers added veteran backstop Tucker Barnhart to the active roster, which suggests Higashioka may miss a period of time. Over his last five games, Higashioka has begun to heat up at the plate, as he has gone 5-for-19 with two doubles and three RBI. Through 17 games this season, the 35-year-old has posted a .254/.279/.390 slash line with just one home run. Under the hood, Higashioka has generated a modest .310 xwOBA but has shown a strong eye at the plate as he has only struck out 16.4 percent of the time. If he were to miss time, Jonah Heim would see the majority of starts behind the dish.

    From RotoBaller

Jared Jones Wed Apr 30 6:30pm ET

Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed pitcher Jared Jones (elbow) has begun a throwing progression. This is a great sign for the 23-year-old, as he has been shut down since March due to a UCL sprain in his right elbow. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress as he gradually increases his workload. However, given the extent of his injury, fantasy managers should not expect Jones to return to the mound for several months, given the time he missed. Last season, the right-hander made his MLB debut and flashed solid upside as he struck out 132 batters across his first 121 1/3 innings. During this stint, he held a 4.14 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP. Under the hood, Jones generated an elite 30.2 percent whiff rate with a solid .234 xBA. Fantasy managers in deeper formats should continue to stash Jones on their injured reserve as he should carry some upside when he does return to the majors.

    From RotoBaller

Brandon Woodruff Wed Apr 30 6:00pm ET

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) made his fourth minor-league rehab start on Wednesday for High-A Wisconsin and allowed an unearned run on three hits while walking one and striking out three in 5 2/3 innings for the win. In his first three rehab starts, the 32-year-old veteran allowed five earned runs on 12 hits while walking five and striking out 13 in 12 2/3 innings pitched. The Brewers are taking their time with Woodruff after he missed the entire 2024 season following surgery on his right shoulder capsule in September of 2023. His performance on Wednesday was very encouraging, and Woodruff might only need one or two more rehab starts on the farm before he's cleared to make his major-league debut in early May. Woodruff deserves to be stashed in all fantasy leagues, but temper expectations initially upon his return.

    From RotoBaller

Clayton Kershaw Wed Apr 30 6:00pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that left-hander Clayton Kershaw (knee, toe) is expected to make his next minor-league rehab start on Wednesday with Triple-A Oklahoma City after Tuesday's game was rained out. It will be his third rehab start after allowing an earned run on six hits while walking one and striking out six in his first two starts with Double-A Tulsa and Oklahoma City. The 37-year-old three-time Cy Young winner went exactly three innings in both starts, so hopefully the future Hall of Famer can go a little deeper for OKC on Wednesday. Kershaw is on the 60-day injured list after having surgery on his knee and toe in the offseason, which means he's not eligible to rejoin L.A.'s starting rotation until May 17. In the right matchups, Kershaw should still have fantasy value, but he'll be more volatile than ever due injuries and the fact that the Dodgers won't be pushing him.

    From RotoBaller

Charlie Morton Wed Apr 30 5:50pm ET

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Charlie Morton will move to the team's bullpen moving forward, according to manager Brandon Hyde. However, the Orioles "haven't closed the door on him being a starter again yet." Morton handled the news of the demotion like a "total pro", and Hyde "thanked him multiple times" for volunteering to pitch in the blowout loss to the division-rival New York Yankees on Tuesday night. The Orioles' one-year, $15 million deal with the 41-year-old isn't looking so good early on after Morton started the year going 0-6 with a 9.45 ERA, 2.17 WHIP, 26 strikeouts, a league-high 21 walks and a league-high 28 earned runs in 26 2/3 innings over seven appearances (five starts). The crafty veteran appears to have lost it so far in 2025. He allowed six walks and four earned runs in a bulk-relief role in his last two outings. Morton's quickly fading fantasy value has taken a big hit.

    From RotoBaller

Chase Dollander Wed Apr 30 5:40pm ET

Colorado Rockies right-handed pitching prospect Chase Dollander (finger) left his start early on Wednesday against the visiting Atlanta Braves at Coors Field with an apparent blister on his finger, according to The Denver Post's Patrick Saunders. Dollander was pulled with two runners on and two outs in the six inning with the Rockies up 2-1. Colorado ended up pulling out the win 2-1, which allowed Dollander to pick up his second big-league win while allowing one earned run on two hits while walking three and striking out four in 5 2/3 innings. The 23-year-old came into his fifth big-league start with a rough 7.91 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with a league-high eight home runs allowed, so this was a big step for the young pitcher, albeit against a struggling team. However, he could now be looking at missing his next start, which is tentatively scheduled for next week against the Detroit Tigers.

    From RotoBaller

Nolan Arenado Wed Apr 30 5:30pm ET

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado will take a seat for Game 2 of a doubleheader on Wednesday versus the division-rival Cincinnati Reds at Great American Ball Park. Nolan Gorman will start at third and bat sixth, while Brendan Donovan will start at the keystone and hit third against Reds pitching prospect Chase Petty, who will be making his MLB debut. Arenado came into Wednesday's doubleheader hitting .255 (26-for-102) with three home runs, 13 RBI and 13 runs over the first month of the season before going 0-for-5 in the Game 1 win. The 34-year-old veteran hasn't had a multi-hit game since April 18 and hasn't homered since April 14. Gorman, a former first-rounder, has struggled at the plate for the Cardinals early on this season, going 10-for-48 (.208) with a homer, eight RBI and eight runs scored. He'll look to get going against a young and inexperienced arm in Game 2 of the twin bill.

    From RotoBaller

Austin Hays Wed Apr 30 5:30pm ET

Cincinnati Reds outfielder Austin Hays (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup for Game 2 of a doubleheader on Wednesday against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals at Great American Ball Park. It's the third straight game that Hays has been sidelined due to a minor hamstring strain that hopefully won't require a stint on the injured list. If Hays doesn't play in Thursday's series finale against St. Louis, his next chance to play will come in Friday's series opener against the visiting Washington Nationals. If the 29-year-old cannot play by the end of the weekend, an IL stint would probably be likely at that point. Gavin Lux is starting in left field and batting seventh for Game 2 on Wednesday against Cardinals left-hander Steven Matz. As a left-handed hitter that has never faced Matz in his career, DFS gamers should be looking to avoid Lux, who went hitless in Game 1.

    From RotoBaller

Brayan Rocchio Wed Apr 30 5:20pm ET

Cleveland Guardians shortstop Brayan Rocchio is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the division-rival Minnesota Twins, and manager Stephen Vogt said that both Gabriel Arias and Daniel Schneemann have been playing better. It means that Rocchio could find himself on the bench more often than not moving forward after starting the year hitting .205 (15-for-73) with no home runs, six RBI and seven runs scored. It's the second straight day that the 24-year-old has been on the bench after going 0-for-4 on Monday. Schneemann is at second base and batting seventh on Wednesday, with Arias at short and batting sixth against Twins right-hander Pablo Lopez. The 25-year-old Arias has been much better offensively with a .270/.313/.472 slash line, four homers, 11 RBI and 14 runs in 89 at-bats. Rocchio is quickly losing fantasy value in AL-only leagues.

    From RotoBaller

Jazz Chisholm Jr. Wed Apr 30 5:20pm ET

New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. (oblique) is not in the team's starting lineup on Wednesday at Camden Yards against the division-rival Baltimore Orioles. Pablo Reyes is starting at the keystone and is hitting seventh against Orioles left-hander Cade Povich. Chisholm is dealing with a right-oblique injury and will undergo testing during the team's off day on Thursday. Manager Aaron Boone believes that it could be an injured-list situation, so fantasy managers should prepare for that possibility. The Yankees will start a new series in the Bronx on Friday against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays. If Chisholm misses extended time with a tricky injury, Reyes should take over most of the playing time at second base for the Yanks. The 27-year-old Chisholm has been all or nothing in 2025, hitting just .181 (19-for-105) but with seven homers, 17 RBI, 17 runs and six stolen bases.

    From RotoBaller

Hayden Wesneski Wed Apr 30 4:00pm ET

Houston Astros right-hander Hayden Wesneski won't make his next start until potentially early next week in Milwaukee against the Brewers. Wesneski will have extra time between starts with right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. (forearm) coming off the 15-day injured list to make his 2025 debut this Sunday against the Chicago White Sox. The 27-year-old Wesneski had no walks and only one strikeout in five innings of work (two earned runs) in his last outing on April 25 against the Kansas City Royals for his second loss of the season. It wasn't a terrible outing, but Wesneski definitely wasn't as sharp as he was in his first four starts for Houston. Hopefully the extra rest will end up working out well for the former Chicago Cub, but the matchup will be a tough one on the road against the Brew Crew. Wesneski has a 3.86 ERA and 1.00 WHIP with 26 K's in 28 innings over his first five starts in 2025.

    From RotoBaller

Geraldo Perdomo Wed Apr 30 3:40pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Geraldo Perdomo and infielder/outfielder Pavin Smith will both start on the bench on Wednesday against the hosting New York Mets. It will be Perdomo's first day off this season. Garrett Hampson is starting at the 6 and batting ninth, while Randal Grichuk will serve as the designated hitter and bat third against Mets right-hander Huascar Brazoban. Left-hander Brandon Waddell is scheduled for a bulk-relief role, which is why Arizona is resting both Perdomo and Smith, who both hit left-handed. Perdomo has struggled of late, going 5-for-36 with a homer, two doubles, two RBI, three steals, si walks and six K's in his last nine games. Smith has been hot in the first month, slashing .347/.478/.639 with four homers, nine RBI and 16 runs scored. Grichuk has a hit in just two career at-bats against Brazoban.

    From RotoBaller

Lance McCullers Jr. Wed Apr 30 3:40pm ET

Houston Astros right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. (forearm) will make his 2025 season debut on Sunday in Chicago against the White Sox, according to the Houston Chronicle's Matt Kawahara. It's an excellent matchup for his season debut, but fantasy managers need to remember that this will be McCullers' first big-league start since the World Series in 2022. The 31-year-old veteran started facing live hitters back in February and posted a 2.84 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with 16 strikeouts and six walks in four minor-league rehab starts over 12 2/3 innings with Double-A Corpus Christi and Triple-A Sugar Land. He threw five scoreless innings over 71 pitches in his final rehab start last Saturday, so he should be built up to go fairly deep this weekend. McCullers was fantasy relevant in all leagues before his forearm injuries set in, but his upside could be limited as the Astros handle him carefully.

    From RotoBaller

Griffin Conine Wed Apr 30 3:30pm ET

Miami Marlins outfielder Griffin Conine (shoulder) is expected to miss the rest of the 2025 season after undergoing left-shoulder surgery in Los Angeles on Tuesday, according to the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson. The good news is that Conine will be ready for the start of spring training next year. The 27-year-old dislocated his left shoulder earlier in April while sliding into second base and will now miss the rest of the campaign after starting off the year hot with a .281 average (18-for-64) with a home run, seven RBI and 10 runs scored in 20 games played. He has now slashed .274/.338/.445 with an above-average .783 OPS, four homers and 19 RBI the last two years for the Fish in just 50 games. If he's fully healthy to begin next season, he should be a lineup regular for the Marlins in 2026. Jesus Sanchez and Kyle Stowers have been manning right field for Miami since Conine went down.

    From RotoBaller

Brandon Nimmo Wed Apr 30 3:30pm ET

New York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (illness) remains out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citi Field. Nimmo had a career day with two home runs and a whopping nine RBI in Monday's victory over the D-backs but then came down with an illness and is sitting out a second straight game. Fantasy managers will have to check back to see if the 32-year-old veteran is feeling good enough to play in Thursday's series finale. Jeff McNeil will start in left field on Wednesday and bat sixth against Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Burnes. McNeil got off to a late start this year due to an oblique injury and has gone 4-for-12 with a homer and three RBI in his first three games. He's hit .267 with a homer and two RBI in 15 career at-bats against Burnes but will be a poor DFS choice in this matchup on Wednesday.
