Adrian Beltre May 24 1:33am ET

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (calf) is scheduled for an evaluation Thursday, May 25, and could return by the beginning of June, according to manager Jeff Banister.

Stephen Drew May 24 1:13am ET

Washington Nationals 2B Stephen Drew (hamstring) has been sent to Florida to take part in rehab games as part of extended spring training, according to manager Dusty Baker.

Greg Bird May 24 1:03am ET

New York Yankees 1B Greg Bird (ankle) fielded grounders Tuesday, May 23, which was the the first time he had since landing on the disabled list May 1. Bird is expected to head to extended spring training in Florida on Sunday, May 28, followed a minor league rehab assignment.

Alex Gordon May 24 1:03am ET

Kansas City Royals OF Alex Gordon was expected to rejoin the team and be available to play Wednesday, May 24, following the birth of his daughter. Gordon was placed on the paternity list Sunday, May 21.

Phil Hughes May 24 12:53am ET

Minnesota Twins RHP Phil Hughes (shoulder) underwent an MRI Tuesday, May 23, and is set to see a specialist Wednesday, May 24, in an effort to determine the cause of the soreness in his shoulder.

Denard Span May 24 12:43am ET

San Francisco Giants OF Denard Span (thumb) missed his second consecutive game Tuesday, May 23, due to a sprained left thumb suffered when he was jammed by a pitch Sunday, May 21.

Charlie Blackmon May 24 12:40am ET

Rockies outfielder Charlie Blackmon went 2-for-4 with two two-run homers on Tuesday against the Phillies, with the four-RBI day being enough for him to take the top spot on the MLB leaderboard from teammate Mark Reynolds (39). Blackmon's first homer came when he drilled a curveball that was right down the middle, and then he followed that up by launching a belt-high fastball that was just begging to be sent to Souvenir City. His 11 homers, 35 runs and 40 RBI go with an astounding .325 average to give him legitimate top-10 appeal. What's even crazier is that he's racking up all of these RBI from the leadoff spot thanks to a deep Colorado lineup. The 30-year-old isn't going to stop anytime soon and could very well put up a 120/30/120/12/.320 season in 2017.

Jay Bruce May 24 12:33am ET

Updating a previous report, New York Mets OF Jay Bruce (back) said the back tightness that caused him to leave the game in the sixth inning on Tuesday, May 23, isn't serious, and he expects to play Wednesday, May 24.

Dinelson Lamet May 24 12:33am ET

San Diego Padres RHP Dinelson Lamet is set to be promoted from Class AAA El Paso in time to start the team's series finale against the New York Mets on Thursday, May 25.

Trevor Cahill May 24 12:33am ET

San Diego Padres RHP Trevor Cahill (shoulder) underwent an MRI Sunday, May 21, that showed no structural damage in his ailing shoulder. However, he's not expected to throw for 10-14 days, according to manager Andy Green.

German Marquez May 24 12:30am ET

Rockies right-hander German Marquez won after allowing one run on seven hits and three walks with six strikeouts over six innings on Tuesday against the Phillies. The 22-year-old improves to 3-2 with his third straight victory and now owns a smooth 2.03 ERA with 28 K's in 31 innings over his last five trips to the hill. With an unspectacular .302 BABIP and 73 percent strand rate, the only real metric that screams luck is his five percent HR/FB rate. This is why his xFIP stands at 4.47 despite a 3.26 FIP, but this a guy who has some swagger out there and knows how to bury the ball low -- making him one of the more legitimately exciting young Mile-High arms in 2017.

Hector Sanchez May 24 12:23am ET

San Diego Padres C Hector Sanchez (foot/quad) injured his right quadriceps Sunday, May 21, while playing a rehab game for Class AAA El Paso. It was to be Sanchez's final rehab appearance before being activated Tuesday, May 23. Instead, Sanchez has been shut down, according to manager Andy Green.

Junior Guerra May 24 12:23am ET

Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers RHP Junior Guerra (calf) is tentatively scheduled to return to the starting rotation Friday, May 26. Guerra has been on disabled list since April 3.

Darwin Barney May 24 12:13am ET

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Darwin Barney (hamstring) did not play Tuesday, May 23, due to tightness in his hamstring.

Francisco Liriano May 24 12:13am ET

Toronto Blue Jays LHP Francisco Liriano (shoulder) pitched a simulated game Tuesday, May 23, and manager John Gibbons said Liriano will, 'go out Sunday and make a rehab start somewhere.'

Hector Neris May 23 11:50pm ET

With the Phillies in the midst of a losing streak, Hector Neris hasn't seen much action and less save opportunities. The 27-year-old has only made eight appearances thus far this month, but tonight's outing makes seven of those appearances scoreless. Tonight, he struck out all three batters he faced, the first time he does that this year. While appearances like this won't result in the saves he so desperately needs, performances of this nature work well to help his confidence moving forward. Neris' ERA is now down to 3.38 on the year, while he still has four saves and a 1-2 record.

Chris Carter May 23 11:40pm ET

After hitting his first Yankee Stadium home run of the year last night, New York first baseman Chris Carter had a solid encore tonight, drilling another bomb to left in the fifth inning against the Royals. The 30-year-old also drew a walk and struck out, but should he continue to see a consistent number of home runs, he'll remain worthy of seeing starts every day. His recent struggles drew criticism and resulted in Aaron Hicks working out at first base, opening possible speculation that he would move there. Regardless, Carter is now hitting .213 with four home runs and 13 RBI.
