Craig Kimbrel Sun Apr 28 4:40pm ET

Baltimore Orioles closer Craig Kimbrel blew his second consecutive save on Sunday before leaving the game alongside the team's training staff. Kimbrel issued a four-pitch walk to Darrell Hernaiz and then served up a two-run home run to Kyle McCann before leaving. He also blew the save in Friday's game after allowing two hits and three walks. It is unclear at this point what Kimbrel's injury is, but something was off with the veteran reliever. Expect more news to come out shortly from the Orioles.

    From RotoBaller

Jordan Romano Sun Apr 28 4:30pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays closer Jordan Romano picked up his fourth save of the season in Sunday's 3-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. He struck out two of the three batters he faced. The 31-year-old had a late start to the season due to injuries, but he is back and locked into the ninth-inning role for Toronto. Romano is a perfect 4-for-4 on save opportunities thus far to go along with a 3.18 ERA. He has been one of the best fantasy closers over the past few seasons and should continue to be a valuable asset.

    From RotoBaller

Freddie Freeman Sun Apr 28 4:30pm ET

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman was 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk during Sunday's 3-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. It was just the second homer of the season for Freeman and his first since March 28th. Despite the slight power outage, the former MVP has still been quite productive. Freeman is slashing .306/.425/.435 with 19 RBI, one stolen base and a 15.4 BB%. The 34-year-old is still one of the best bats in baseball and a serious hot streak might be right around the corner.

Kevin Gausman Sun Apr 28 4:20pm ET

Toronto Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman picked up his first win of the season during Sunday's 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Gausman allowed one run on five hits across seven innings of work. He struck out five batters without issuing a walk. The 33-year-old had a tumultuous start to the season due to injuries and inconsistencies, but he has only given up two earned runs across his last three starts. Gausman will look to continue his recent success in his next projected outing against the Washington Nationals.

    From RotoBaller

Tarik Skubal Sun Apr 28 4:10pm ET

Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Tarik Skubal allowed one run on four hits across seven innings of work during Sunday's 4-1 win over the Kansas City Royals. He struck out six batters while issuing one walk. It was another masterful day on the mound for Skubal, who improved his season record to 4-0. The 27-year-old now owns a sparkling 1.72 ERA, 0.74 WHIP and 41/6 K/BB through six starts. Skubal is unquestionably one of the top pitchers in baseball and is a must-start whenever he takes the field. He should continue to find success in his next projected outing against the New York Yankees.

Cal Raleigh Sun Apr 28 3:00pm ET

Seattle Mariners backstop Cal Raleigh will receive the day off on Sunday as the Mariners look to complete a three-game sweep against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Raleigh has missed only four games this season and is riding a .235/.315/.457 line with six long balls. The 27-year-old is considered one of the best power options at the catcher position and currently holds an incredible 94.3 mph average exit velocity, 15.7% barrel rate, and 54.9% hard-hit rate which places him in the 96th, 92nd, and 95th percentiles of qualified hitters respectively. Seby Zavala will instead serve as the catcher and bat in the eight hole. Zavala has not made many appearances this season and is a desperation play in DFS against right-handed pitcher Brandon Pfaadt, who enters Sunday with a 4.97 ERA.

    From RotoBaller

Edouard Julien Sun Apr 28 2:50pm ET

Minnesota Twins second baseman Edouard Julien is not in Sunday's lineup as the Twins are scheduled to face left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers. Julien has had a great week at the plate with an incredible .474/.565/.1.105 stat line with three long balls. However, he has only made two starts this season against left-handed pitchers and will be on the bench once again. Instead, Kyle Farmer will shift to second base and bat in the eight-hole. Farmer has struggled to begin the campaign and has a difficult matchup today and should be avoided in DFS as he will face Reid Detmers who enters Sunday with a 2.12 ERA and 1.04 WHIP.

    From RotoBaller

Brendan Rodgers Sun Apr 28 2:40pm ET

Colorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers was not found in Sunday's lineup as the Rockies conclude the Mexico City Series against the Houston Astros. Rodgers has been swinging a hot bat as of late with a .292/.393/.458 line with one home run in his past seven games. As a result, Alan Trejo will cover second base and bat in the nine-hole. Trejo has tallied just two hits through ten games this season and holds a .105 AVG. Trejo has a difficult matchup against southpaw Framber Valdez, who will be making his first start since coming off of the 15-day IL due to elbow inflammation.

    From RotoBaller

Chas McCormick Sun Apr 28 2:30pm ET

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick will be riding pine on Sunday as the Astros conclude a two-game set in Mexico City with the Colorado Rockies. This is the second time the 29-year-old has been on the bench this week, and he may find himself entering a part-time role. As a result, Yordan Alvarez will shift to left field, opening the designated hitter spot for Yainer Diaz, who is usually behind the dish. McCormick has had a rough start to the season as he has posted a .236/.325/.278 line and has yet to hit a home run, which is very different from his strong 2023 numbers, where he posted a .273 AVG and was one swiped bag away from being a 20/20 player. However, the entire Astros lineup will be a popular stack in DFS as they will face Austin Gomber, who enters Sunday's game with a 4.32 ERA.

    From RotoBaller

Luis Campusano Sun Apr 28 2:10pm ET

San Diego Padres backstop Luis Campusano will be on the bench on Sunday as the Padres hope to avoid a three-game sweep against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 25-year-old has made three consecutive starts and has posted an overall .286/.316/.396 line. Campusano currently holds an excellent 10.5% K rate, placing him in the top 97th percentile among qualified hitters. Kyle Higashioka will slot in behind the dish today and will face Taijuan Walker, who will make his season debut. Higashioka is a desperation play in DFS as he is riding a .190/.190/.381 line with just one RBI. Campusano should be expected to return to the lineup as the Padres open a three-game series with the Cincinnati Reds on Monday.

    From RotoBaller

Rhys Hoskins Sun Apr 28 1:40pm ET

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the New York Yankees. This looks to be a rest day for Hoskins after homering during Saturday's contest. The expectation is that Hoskins will return to the lineup after this one-game absence. In the meantime, Jake Bauers will hit cleanup and cover first base during Sunday's game.

    From RotoBaller

Evan Carter Sun Apr 28 1:40pm ET

Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. This looks like a routine rest day for the rookie outfielder against a left-handed starter. Wyatt Langford will handle left field, with Andrew Knizner getting the start at designated hitter versus left-hander Andrew Abbott. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly with Carter out.

    From RotoBaller

Chas McCormick Sun Apr 28 1:30pm ET

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Colorado Rockies. This appears to be a routine rest day for the right-handed slugger. Yordan Alvarez will handle left field with Yainer Diaz serving as the designated hitter for Sunday's game. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly.

    From RotoBaller

Gabriel Moreno Sun Apr 28 1:30pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners. The young backstop will get the day off after going 0-for-6 in the first two games of this series. Tucker Barnhart will make the start behind the plate and bat seventh versus right-hander Logan Gilbert on Sunday.

    From RotoBaller

    Christian Encarnacion-Strand Sun Apr 28 1:20pm ET

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers. The young slugger needs a rest day after going 1-for-14 over the last four games. The expectation is the 24-year-old will be back in the lineup following this one-game absence. Spencer Steer will cover first base, while Nick Martini serves as the designated hitter on Sunday.

    From RotoBaller

Miguel Sano Sun Apr 28 1:10pm ET

Los Angeles Angels third baseman Miguel Sano (knee) is still banged up after being pulled from Wednesday's game due to left knee soreness. The right-handed slugger was able to play on Friday but then sat out on Saturday. Sano had an MRI on his knee, which revealed inflammation in his left knee. The organization is currently considering Sano as day-to-day right now. Luis Rengifo figures to see additional playing time until Sano is ready again.

    From RotoBaller

Alek Thomas Sun Apr 28 1:00pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Alek Thomas (hamstring) started baserunning activities on April 24, with manager Torey Lovullo saying that Thomas is doing everything except running full speed. The skipper doesn't have a target date for Thomas' return, but he said Thomas is progressing well. The 24-year-old strained his left hamstring when he grounded into a double play on March 31 against the Colorado Rockies and underwent an MRI exam on April 1 that showed a strain that was greater than a Grade 1 strain. It sounds like he's getting close to being able to go on a minor-league rehab assignment. Until Thomas is able to return, Corbin Carroll will continue to operate as the team's center fielder, giving Jake McCarthy and Randal Grichuk more reps in the outfield. Thomas has still yet to show much offensively for fantasy managers, but he's a stud on defense when healthy.

    From RotoBaller

Randy Arozarena Sun Apr 28 12:30pm ET

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena is not in the team's starting lineup on Sunday in the series finale against the Chicago White Sox. Arozarena will get a blow after starting the team's previous nine contests while going just 4-for-34 with 13 strikeouts to drop his season line to a rough .154/.228/.260. The 29-year-old Cuban slugger has added three home runs, nine RBI, four stolen bases and 12 runs scored in his first 104 at-bats in 2024. After the day off, hopefully Arozarena will be able to start picking things up offensively for the Rays and fantasy managers. Harold Ramirez is starting in left field and batting fifth, while Austin Shenton is the designated hitter and is batting sixth against White Sox right-hander Erick Fedde. Ramirez has one hit in two career at-bats against Fedde, while Shenton has never faced Fedde.

    From RotoBaller

Zac Gallen Sun Apr 28 12:30pm ET

Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen (hamstring) left the series opener against the Seattle Mariners early on Friday with tightness in his right hamstring, but he is optimistic that he'll be able to make his next start. "I feel pretty encouraged," Gallen said. "So my plan is to make my next start." The 28-year-old apparently made some pretty good progress with his hamstring in just one day. It's not official just yet, but he's currently scheduled to face the Los Angeles Dodgers in Arizona on Wednesday. Gallen is a fantasy ace, but managers will want to be hesitant in deploying him next week if he indeed gets the nod to face the first-place Dodgers, who have one of the most feared lineups in baseball. Through his first six starts of 2024, Gallen is 3-2 with a 3.38 ERA and 1.22 WHIP with 35 strikeouts and nine walks in 32 innings.

    From RotoBaller

Avisail Garcia Sun Apr 28 12:20pm ET

The Miami Marlins placed outfielder Avisail Garcia (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Sunday with a left-hamstring strain, according to a source. In a corresponding move, outfielder Dane Myers was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville. The team also selected the contract of right-hander Emmanuel Ramirez from Jacksonville and designated left-hander Kent Emanuel for assignment. Garcia was pulled from Saturday's contest against the Washington Nationals with his hammy injury and will now miss at least the next 10 days. At this stage of his career, the 32-year-old isn't much of a fantasy asset in mixed leagues. He's currently hitting .240 (12-for-50) with two home runs and two RBI. Myers immediately jumps into Miami's starting lineup on Sunday and will start in right field and hit seventh against Nationals left-hander Patrick Corbin.
