SUMMARY
Running Back Rank: #149
Overall: #654

Jones missed the entire season after tearing ligaments in his ankle before the season started. He needed surgery to repair the injury. But he was hurt early enough last season that his injury shouldn't be a factor this coming year. And Jones was having a strong preseason before getting hurt. Jones has a long road back, though. His numbers have gone down each of the previous three seasons. He did rush for 1,000 yards his rookie season but has less than 700 yards in each of his next four seasons. Jones has value as a backup, but his days of starting are about over. Jones is a quick back with big-play ability. He isn't the biggest back, though, and has a hard time staying healthy (as evident last season).
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Jones might be worth a late-round gamble but that is about it. He is a bit of a reach for fantasy teams with his recent track record. He'll be lucky to get 500 or so total yards.
Vaughn McClure, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears RB Kevin Jones said Tuesday, March 9, he has been released.
Fantasy Impact: Not a surprise. Jones had another injury last season. He just can't stay healthy.

Nicholas J. Cotsonika, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Lions RB Kevin Jones lost eight pounds during the offseason because he said when he was at 218 pounds last season, he struggled getting around the corner. He said the weight loss has helped him with his movement and flexibility.

Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears RB Kevin Jones is now two years removed from a torn ACL he suffered during the 2007 season. He has shed 20 pounds during the offseason and has impressed the coaching staff with his quickness, burst and cutting ability. Plus, he is now in his second year within the Bears' system. 'There's definitely plenty of snaps to get Kevin in there. He gives us some good solid running ability with a lot of experience. He's had a great offseason and has worked really hard,' offensive coordinator Ron Turner said.
Fantasy Impact: Jones is having a great camp and could play a bigger role with the Bears this season. He could be worth a late-round grab come draft day.

Jeff Dickerson, of ESPNChicago.com, reports Chicago Bears RB Kevin Jones has been one of the top standouts so far in training camp.

Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports Chicago Bears RBs coach Tim Spencer said the team has to use RB Kevin Jones more this year to make sure both he and RB Matt Forte are as healthy as they can be by the end of the season. Spencer said Jones is now 100 percent healthy and is back to where he was before suffering a torn ACL. 'He knows our system and he knows what we're trying to do,' Spencer noted on Jones.
