Quarterback Rank: #86
Overall: #485

Kurt Warner finally retired, leaving Leinart as the starter in Arizona. All was perfect for Leinart heading into 2010, right? Well, things didn't go as planned. Leinart failed to win the job during the preseason and was released by the Cardinals before the start of the season. He signed with the Texans and served as their No. 3, failing to get in a game all season. Needless to say, Leinart has some work to do to make an impact in the NFL once again. He has never seized his chances, having 20 interceptions to 14 touchdown passes. His reads are slow and he makes poor decisions when under pressure. Leinart is an accurate quarterback, but his indecision is his major drawback. Until he proves he can handle the speed of the NFL, Leinart will remain a backup. The Texans re-signed him this offseason, likely making him their top backup this year.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Don't bother with Leinart. Even if he starts some games, he hasn't shown enough in the past to be a help to fantasy teams. He is running out of time in the NFL.
Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak said Friday, Dec. 2, that the surgery for QB Matt Leinart (collarbone) has been moved from Thursday, Dec. 1, to Tuesday, Dec. 6, because the quarterback is battling an illness.

Houston Texans QB Matt Leinart (collarbone) will need to have season-ending surgery to fix a fractured collarbone. The surgery will take place within the next week. QB T.J. Yates will start versus the Atlanta Falcons in Week 13, with QB Kellen Clemens as the backup.
Fantasy Impact: Not good. Yates takes over as starter from here on out. Leinart finally gets his chance and gets hurt.

Houston Texans QB Matt Leinart (collarbone) is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken collarbone in Week 12.
Fantasy Impact: Leinart finally gets his chance and goes down with injury. The Texans are super thin at quarterback right now.

Leinart is back on the sidelines with his arm in a sling.
Houston Texans QB Matt Leinart (shoulder) will not return to the game Week 12 because of a left shoulder injury.

Houston Texans QB Matt Schaub (foot) suffered a significant foot injury in Week 10 and will miss some playing time. Schaub will be wearing a walking boot this week and is scheduled to meet with a foot specialist in the next week. QB Matt Leinart will start in Week 11 in place of Schaub.
Houston Texans OG Mike Brisiel (shin), OT Duane Brown (knee), LB Brian Cushing (elbow), CB Johnathan Joseph (shoulder), QB Matt Leinart (thumb), S Danieal Manning (leg), LB DeMeco Ryans (hamstring) and LB Darryl Sharpton (back, groin) are listed as probable for Week 7. Brown, Cushing, Joseph, Leinart and Sharpton practiced in full Friday, Oct. 21.

Although QB Matt Leinart received more reps in practice Wednesday, Oct. 19, QB Matt Schaub (shoulder) is expected to start in Week 7. 'We're giving Leinart a lot more work, especially on Wednesdays and Thursdays right now,' head coach Gary Kubiak said. '(Schaub) is pushing through, and we just need to get him through a week where he's not getting beat up very much. But he worked today.'

Houston Texans QB Matt Leinart will see the bulk of snaps in the team's preseason game against the New York Jets Monday, Aug. 15.

The Houston Texans have agreed to terms with free-agent QB Matt Leinart (Texans). Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Fantasy Impact: This is a surprise as Leinart has no chance to start in Houston. Guess he didn't think his chances were good in Washington or Seattle, either. He was the No. 3 last season in Houston but should be given first crack at the top backup job this year.
