Summary

Running Back Rank: #155All Players: #651
Addai had his least productive season as a pro, rushing for just 433 yards. He also battled knee and hamstring injuries, missing four games. Addai did have double-digit carries six times but his season high rushing total was 86 yards. He also scored just one touchdown, which is another career low for Addai. He is 29 years old, so a decline was inevitable for Addai. He is more backup material than anything at this stage of his career. He'll compete for a roster spot this coming season. His rushing totals have gone down each of the last three seasons and the last time he topped 1,000-rushing yards was 2007. Addai can still be productive as a backup, though. He catches the ball well out of the backfield and has plenty of starting experience. Addai has lost some speed, but still has decent speed and some big-play ability. He runs with some power and does a good job as a receiver.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Addai isn't near the fantasy back of past seasons. He might not even be worth drafting at this point. If you do draft him, take him as a No. 4 or 5 back. He could get 500 or so total yards and a few scores in a reserve role for the Patriots. His best days are clearly behind him.

Updating previous item, free-agent RB Joseph Addai (Patriots) struggled during his conditioning test with the New England Patriots and simply quit, according to a league source, which led to his release.
Fantasy Impact: Not a good way to continue his playing career in the NFL.

Updating a previous report, the New England Patriots released RB Joseph Addai because he did not pass a physical.

The New England Patriots have released RB Joseph Addai.
Fantasy Impact: This isn't a surprise. He is about done.

New England Patriots RB Joseph Addai was reportedly not very impressive during the team's offseason program, and he might be on the roster bubble. It sounds like Addai needs a strong training camp and preseason if he wants to leapfrog RBs Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen and Danny Woodhead, among others.
Fantasy Impact: We wouldn't be surprised if Addai is let go by the Patriots at some point in the near future.

The New England Patriots must rely on their running game this season to complement the passing attack. However, it is still very uncertain who will carry the load heading into training camp. RBs Joseph Addai, Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen and Danny Woodhead combine for nine career starts for the Patriots. None have stood out on their own in offseason workouts, and the team might be hoping for strength by committee. 'We're not really focused on who's going to be the guy or anything like that; we're just trying to help each other out and learn together,' Ridley said. 'One person is not going to get it done all the way through the season and we know that, so we have to be able to depend on everybody.'

New England Patriots RB Joseph Addai is not guaranteed of earning a spot on the team's final roster; however, with a young backfield, it appears likely Addai will make the team.

New England Patriots RBs Shane Vereen and Stevan Ridley are expected to get a majority of the carries this season if they both stay healthy with RB Joseph Addai being an insurance policy in case they struggle.
Fantasy Impact: Yeah, we don't expect much out of Addai at this stage of his career.

The New England Patriots officially inked RB Joseph Addai Thursday, May 10.
Fantasy Impact: He'll compete for a roster spot. We wouldn't count on him playing a big role with his new team.
