You keep waiting for Hurd to breakout, but it just hasn't happened. He had 14 receptions last season, giving him double-digit receptions for just the second time in his career. He has 45 receptions in four full seasons in the league. Hurd has displayed some big-play ability, averaging 14.0 yards per reception for his career. He can stretch the field in a hurry because of his size and speed. He isn't the most polished route runner, though, which has hurt his development to get more playing time. He should continue to serve a reserve role this season.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Hurd has big-game potential, but trying to figure out when that will come is anyone's guess. Remember, he has yet to top 400-receiving yards in any season. Consider him a player to watch on the waiver wire.

Former Chicago Bears WR Sam Hurd had his bond revoked Tuesday, Aug. 28. A Texas judge ordered him to jail as he awaits a federal drug trial. Hurd was arrested earlier this month in San Antonio after failing two drug tests, in May and July, and testing positive for marijuana on a $100,000 cash bond.

Chicago Bears WR Sam Hurd was arrested late Wednesday, Dec. 14, in Chicago on federal charges out of Dallas, authorities said. According to authorities, Hurd allegedly attempted to purchase drugs from a supplier in North Texas, which is where the case will be adjudicated. The local office of Immigration and Customs Enforcement is handling the investigation, authorities said.
