Summary

Wide Receiver Rank: #26All Players: #74
Jones had a career year last season, posting career highs in receptions, yards and touchdowns. He got more playing time and took advantage of his chances. Jones was a touchdown machine, scoring 14 times. He had scores all but seven games. Jones had just one 100-yard game but multiple receptions all but a game. Jones should continue to get plenty of work this season, getting reps as a starter and No. 3 receiver in the Packers pass-first offense. Jones has at least 600 yards four of six seasons in the NFL. Jones has decent quickness, but runs good routes and has above-average hands. He also does well in making the tough catch, but he will drop some passes.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Jones is going to have a hard time repeating his touchdown total of last season, but he can improve his reception and yardage totals. A season with 70 receptions for 850 yards and eight touchdowns seems realistic for Jones. He is a solid No. 3 for fantasy teams.

comments about James Jones

Notes

Green Bay Packers WR James Jones said he likes the trio of himself, WR Jordy Nelson and WR Randall Cobb heading into the 2013 season, even if impending free-agent WR Greg Jennings signs elsewhere. 'I can see me, Jordy and Randall getting about 80 catches apiece. I can see us all having over 1,000 yards,' Jones said. He added it is doubtful a receiver on the team would catch 100 balls, only because QB Aaron Rodgers likes to spread the football around.
Green Bay Packers WR James Jones led the team in receiving yards during the team's NFC divisional loss to the San Francisco 49ers. He had four receptions for 87 yards and one touchdown.

Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers thinks WR James Jones is having a career year because he's more focused since becoming a father. 'The numbers speak for themselves. Leading the league in touchdown catches is pretty impressive, 12. I think it's on 50-something catches (51), so just about 1 of every 4, almost 5, he's getting in the end zone,' said Rodgers. 'It's pretty impressive. He's really improved a lot. The greatest compliment for him is he probably is not going to mind too much being overlooked.' Rodgers said Jones has seemed more dialed in ever since the birth of his child, and he's getting open when it counts, down in the red zone.

Green Bay Packers WR James Jones caught five passes for 60 yards and three touchdowns in Week 15 against the Chicago Bears. It was the first three touchdown game of Jones' career.
Fantasy Impact: Jones is having a big season, finding the end zone on almost a regular basis.

Green Bay Packers WR James Jones, who doesn't have a single dropped pass this season, said his penchant for dropping passes during the 2010 season likely cost him a hefty payday on the open market. Other teams told him they didn't want to sign him because of his dropped passes. 'They didn't feel like I could catch a ball,' Jones said. 'They didn't feel like my hands were good enough. . . . When I play those teams, I have a little bone to pick with them.' Jones has 40 catches for 462 yards and eight touchdowns this season.

Green Bay Packers WR James Jones is on pace for career highs in receptions (72), yards (802), and touchdowns (14) this season. Jones said the secret to his success has been his ability to stay focused during games. Jones talks to himself on the field; he literally yells at himself between snaps. 'Focus! Stay Focused!' Jones has suffered from drops in his career; however, this season he does not have a drop in 57 targets. 'In the past I've had games where I caught balls early and I would lose focus at the end,' said Jones. 'And the other way around. So I'm constantly talking to myself the whole game.'
