Carolina Panthers general manager Marty Hurney said Wednesday, Aug. 1, that he expected to meet with OT Jeff Otah (knee), and the injured lineman would undergo a physical. The team can place him on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform (PUP) list, activate him, cut him or try to trade him again. A team source said it's unlikely they'll retain him.

Otah has seven days from the time of the trade to pass another physical for the trade to become official. 'I expect to be starting when healthy,' Otah said. 'I feel like I can do some good things for this team.'

The team placed Otah on the active/physically unable to perform list after failing the physical. He battled knee problems during his tenure with the Panthers, which is why he played just four games over the past two seasons. A league source said the trade was contingent on Otah passing his physical with the team in the next seven days, or he heads back to Carolina.
