Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson says his new Tempurpedic mattress has helped stabilize his back and keep him in good posture. Simpson suffered a lower-back ailment, which turned out to be a nerve issue, that squashed his production for two months. 'It was more my push-off,' he said. 'I didn't really have my burst to be able to get away from my defenders when I needed to.' Simpson says he's back at 100 percent.

Impending free-agent WR Jerome Simpson (Vikings) had an injury-filled season, and he did little statistically when healthy. Simpson was also credited with four dropped balls. In addition, he missed a block which led to the season-ending injury to WR Percy Harvin (ankle). Simpson might return on another short-term deal at the right price, as he is not expected to have much value on the open market. However, the Vikings might just decide to move on after the disappointment of 2012.

Minnesota Vikings WR Jerome Simpson (back) is still being bothered by a disc injury in his back, according to head coach Leslie Frazier. Simpson has been a big disappointment with only 15 catches for 176 yards and no touchdowns in nine games this year. He hasn't had more than three catches in any game. 'You can't get around the injury,' Frazier said. 'It definitely has had an effect on his play. We're doing the best we can, he's doing the best he can and that play he made on the slant in (last Sunday's) game in the fourth quarter, that was a big play for us. We're going to need him to make some plays for us this Sunday. Give us whatever he can.' Simpson's speed has been affected, as well as his ability to cut and plant during his routes. He has yet to be told that he'll need offseason surgery, though.
