Eric Williams, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Seattle Seahawks FB Owen Schmitt has been fined two game checks for violating the league's substance abuse policy but will not be suspended, according to a league spokesperson. Schmitt was charged with driving under the influence during the offseason and pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of reckless driving.

Danny O'Neil, of The Seattle Times, reports Seattle Seahawks FB Owen Schmitt pleaded guilty to reckless driving Wednesday, July 22, according to his attorney. Schmitt was originally charged with driving under the influence but plead guilty to the lesser charge. Schmitt was sentenced to 365 days in jail, but 364 days of that sentence were suspended. The suspended portion of the sentence will not be served so long as he obeys the conditions of conduct from the court. The final day in jail was converted into 24 hours of community service. He must pay $2,130 in fines and other costs. He also will serve two years of probation.
