Notes
New York Giants WRs Hakeem Nicks, who attended the team's minicamp but not OTAs, and Victor Cruz, who didn't, were the subject of inquiry related to how long it will take them to get their timing back because of their offseason absences. Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride responded, 'That is so, not unimportant, but it is just a relatively minor thing,' he began. 'The thing is they haven't been working. They haven't been listening. They haven't been growing, they haven't been developing. They haven't been receiving the coaching that they need to get better. To be quite frank, they need it. And the absence and not being here has hurt them and because of that, it has hurt us.' Gilbride added that the positive is that other receivers have received those reps and opportunities to become integral pieces of the offense down the road. Now that Cruz has signed his tender, he and Nicks will have ample time to catch up on whatever they missed, and neither player's fantasy value should be affected.

New York Giants WR Hakeem Nicks said that he sees no reason why he wouldn't be present for the start of the team's training camp when it opens, in July. The receiver, when asked about not telling the team that he would be skipping organized team activities, replied, 'I could've done a better job with that.' This would seem to be an indication that Nicks doesn't intend to hold out, although that wasn't necessarily a huge worry. Hopefully, whatever tension exists between Nicks and the Giants will fade as the season approaches.

New York Giants wide receivers coach Kevin M. Gilbride said he believes it will take WRs Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks to get up to speed once they report, but they should be able to ready fairly quickly. 'I think it all takes work and timing and development of your individual skills, of your grasp of the offense and the detail. I don't think it's easy, but I think those two, Victor and Hakeem, have the ability and the mental capacity to step in and basically play catch up like we talked about and get caught up pretty quickly,' Gilbride said.
