Summary

The Jags really made some strides defensively last season, ranking sixth overall while finishing 12th in fantasy scoring in most formats. The Jags won't get a ton of sacks (31 last season) but their secondary continues to improve and should be one of the better ones in the league after finishing eighth against the pass last season. Cornerback Rashean Mathis is a big-play threat in the secondary, which is a plus for fantasy teams. Mike Thomas and Cecil Shorts should handle the return duties for the special teams. Neither are big-time threats in the return game but adequate.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
The Jags are a squad many fantasy teams will overlook but they should be considered a low-end No. 1. You can platoon this unit and have success. They are capable of making some big plays and causing turnovers.

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive line coach Joe Cullen said he expects DT Tyson Alualu to improve his play this season as long as his knee is healthy. 'I think he really has a chance to really come into his own this year and if he's on a healthy knee he can be as explosive as I believe he can be, that he has shown [in] some of the games that he has really dominated, the [Denver Broncos] game two years ago. I really believe he's going to take another step forward in production. More splash plays, the sacks,' Cullen said.

Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron said Friday, Oct. 21, that the plan is to use double-teams against DL Tyson Alualu in Week 7. 'Absolutely,' Cameron said. 'And, it would vary by play. You are always looking each game plan. The defensie is trying to get single blocks, and we are trying to find ways to get double-teams. He would be one of those guys.'

Jacksonville Jaguars defensive line coach Joe Cullen said he believes that DT Tyson Alualu will show improvement as a pass rusher this season. 'We expect him to come back and get that much better from his rookie year to his sophomore year,' Cullen said. 'At times, he really showed he was that guy. There was some inconsistency in there as well, but I think he definitely has the raw things you look for in that guy, in the under tackle, the three technique. He gets a lot of the one on ones, and I think teams will have to account for him in their protection schemes.'
