SUMMARY
Running Back Rank: #84
Overall: #383

McCluster wasn't quite the offensive factor his rookie season as expected. He was slowed some by an ankle injury but didn't do too much while playing. He finished with just fewer than 300 total yards on 39 touches. McCluster was a bigger plus on special teams, doing well on both punt and kick returns. He even returned a punt for a touchdown. He is a playmaker, so the Chiefs will find ways to get him involved. He should be more comfortable in the offense and his role his second year in the league McCluster will be used as a receiver but also as a running back at times. He has top speed and great moves in space. He catches the ball well but needs to shore up his route running. He could be an ideal No. 3 receiver for the Chiefs, but won't be handed that job.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
McCluster has some total yardage potential. He flashed some good things at times last season, but was far from consistent. Expect better numbers but he will lack consistency once again this season in his current role. He might get around 500 total yards and a few scores, but don't expect much more.
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Romeo Crennel believes RB Dexter McCluster can be a weapon for the team; however, his lack of size also presents an issue. 'You have to be cognizant of his size and the limitations that size presents,' Crennel said. 'But he also brings play-making ability. If you manage him well, you can get a lot of good plays out of him and not expose him too much to the rigors of that position.'

Kansas City Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster caught five passes for 89 yards against the Oakland Raiders in Week 16. He also rushed for 15 yards on three carries in the game.
Fantasy Impact: He has total yardage potential in his role but is too erratic for fantasy teams to trust.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster rushed for 61 yards on nine carries in Week 13 against the Chicago Bears. He also caught four passes for 46 yards and one touchdown in the game.
Fantasy Impact: McCluster showed his total yardage potential in this game but don't count on this every week.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster rushed for 45 yards on eight carries against the Denver Broncos in Week 10. McCluster also caught six passes for 48 yards in the game.
Fantasy Impact: McCluster posted some nice total yardage numbers. He still has some outside value as a flex player.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster had six carries for zero yards in the Week 8 game Monday, Oct. 31, against the San Diego Chargers, and he added three receptions for 28 yards. McCluster lost a fumble, and also had five kickoff returns for a total of 135 yards.
Fantasy Impact: McCluster is only worth owning in PPR leagues but that might even be a stretch at this point.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster leads the team in total touches through five games. 'We're putting Dexter in some pretty big spots and even some protection spots where we're asking a lot of him,' head coach Todd Haley said.
Fantasy Impact: McCluster is getting plenty of chances in the Chiefs' offense. He is doing a little bit of everything.

Kansas City RB Dexter McCluster had nine carries for a team-high 45 yards in Week 3 against the San Diego Chargers. He also added five receptions for 17 yards.
Fantasy Impact: McCluster has a little value as a flex player or No. 3 back but that is about it. Don't expect huge weekly production.

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Bill Muir said the team has a certain number of touches in mind for RB Dexter McCluster because they do not want to wear him out so early in the season. Muir did say they will scrap the number if the game is close.
Fantasy Impact: The Chiefs won't run McCluster into the ground but he should get double-digit touches.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster could see more touches since RB Jamaal Charles (knee) is out for the season, but the team came into the season with an expectation of giving McCluster eight to 10 touches a game and he is already near the top end of the projection. The team is concerned that an increased workload could increase the risk of injury because of his size. The team may also be worried about McCluster's two fumbles in two games this season.
Fantasy Impact: McCluster has more upside for the big game than Thomas Jones, so he is the better pickup Jones.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster had one rush for four yards in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 26, against the St. Louis Rams. He also added six receptions for 37 yards, and he was targeted a game-high six times.
Fantasy Impact: McCluster seems to have a chance to play a role in this offense. We think his chances will be sporadic, though.
