Minnesota Vikings RB Toby Gerhart was expected to split time with RB Adrian Peterson early on, but he ended up in the same backup role he's always been. Gerhart is entering a contract year, and he has minimal mileage on his body. He figures to return as Peterson's primary backup unless the team can find value in the trade market.
Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier said the team has some concern over RB Toby Gerhart's three fumbles in Week 3 because they do not want him to lose confidence. 'We're going to need Toby to make big plays for us throughout this season and we've got to keep his confidence up,' Frazier said. 'We know he's capable of holding onto the football. He usually does a good job with that. We don't want him to go in the tank and get down.'
Fantasy Impact: He won't get any meaningful work if he can't hold onto the ball better.

Fantasy Impact: Gerhart wasn't much of a factor as Adrian Peterson got more work than expected. Expect more of the same going forward.

It's mostly due to the availability and uncertainty of RB Adrian Peterson (knee), so they want to keep Gerhart as healthy as possible just in case.
