Williams latched on with the Lions last season and got a little work his second year in the league but not nearly as much as his rookie season. Williams finished with 257 total yards. He had double-digit carries just twice, having five or few carries all but four games. He remains a deep reserve at this point of his career. He is best fit as a third-down back. He caught 39 passes his rookie season and has 47 receptions in two years. Williams has decent speed, plus hands and pretty good size for the position.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Williams isn't worth a draft pick. His stock is down after last season. Unless he starts getting consistent work as a third-down back, don't bother. He might get a couple hundred total yards and a score or two.

The Washington Redskins signed free-agent RB Keiland Williams (Lions) Tuesday, Oct. 23, and released RB Ryan Grant in a corresponding move. Grant had only one carry for five yards. Williams could challenge RB Evan Royster as the team's third-down back.
Fantasy Impact: Williams won't have a ton of value in his role with the team but might be worth a look in PPR leagues if he grabs the third-down back duties.

Detroit Lions RB Keiland Williams carried 11 times for just 25 yards in Week 8 against the Denver Broncos, and he added a five-yard reception. Williams saw 12 total touches, second-most on the team, with RB Jahvid Best (concussion) sidelined.
Fantasy Impact: Williams got a lot of work late with the Lions up big.

Fantasy Impact: Williams could emerge as the third-down back for the Lions. He has some good pass-catching skills but some competition for work in the backfield.

Washington Redskins RB Keiland Williams has been working as a third-down back during practice this week and the team could use him more in that role moving forward. Williams had been working as a fullback earlier in training camp.
Fantasy Impact: Williams has good hands and did well in this role last season, so it makes sense to use him there in 2011.

Washington Redskins RB Keiland Williams settled into a third-down back role last season, and offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said his value as a blocker on passing downs was 'crucial,' reports Gary Fitzgerald, of Redskins.com. 'He got in a role where he really helped us out on third downs,' Shanahan said. 'By the end of the year he was the best in terms of helping us in protections, especially after (RB Clinton Portis) went down. We needed Keiland and he did a great job in protections.'
Fantasy Impact: Williams did well in his third-down role last season and seems to have the inside track for the same role this coming season. He has some upside in PPR leagues.

Washington Redskins RB Keiland Williams ran the ball 16 times for 89 yards and two touchdowns in Washington's 59-28 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 10, according to NFL.com. Williams also caught four passes for 50 yards and one touchdown.
Fantasy Impact: Williams got a lot of work in garbage time and took advantage. He could get more chances going forward, but nothing is certain with this running back situation.
