Summary

The Jets continue to boast a top defense. New York ranked fifth overall and scored the ninth most fantasy points. Their huge strength, thanks to shutdown corner Darrelle Revis, is their pass defense, which ranked fifth. The Jets also had 19 interceptions, which was among the best last season. They don't do a great job of pressuring the quarterback, though, which might be their one weakness. The Jets had 35 sacks, a number that isn't terrible but not great, either. The Jets also had a few issues against the run, ranking 13th but that number is higher because teams try to run a lot more than pass against this squad. The Jets have a pretty good special teams unit with Joe McKnight leading the way in the return game. He has big-play ability and gives the special teams a spark.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
The sacks are about the only thing holding this unit back, but the interception, yardage and point totals make the Jets a top fantasy starter. New York isn't an elite fantasy defense but close to that group at the top.

comments about Muhammad Wilkerson

Notes

New York Jets DT Muhammad Wilkerson (knee, concussion) said he does not have a concussion, as the team had previously said. Head coach Rex Ryan said earlier in the week that Wilkerson only developed symptoms following Week 16 and he found out about Wilkerson's condition Tuesday, Dec. 25. Wilkerson insisted he was concussion-free. He is listed as probable for Week 17, even though the Jets list him with a knee injury and a concussion on their injury report.

The New York Jets are looking to rattle Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson in Week 10 with their pass rush. The defense is hoping to confuse Wilson by showing him different looks. 'He's a rookie so he's not (as) experienced as somebody like Tom Brady or something,' DE Muhammad Wilkerson said. 'So we've got to just get after him ... (We need to) give him different looks. Get hits on him and try and put pressure on him and get him uncomfortable. They're 4-0 at home so of course he's going to feel like he can do it all at home. You just gotta make him feel uncomfortable.'

New York Jets DL Muhammad Wilkerson turned heads during organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp. He is expected to make a leap in his second season. Head coach Rex Ryan has repeatedly likened Wilkerson's work ethic and ascension to CB Darrelle Revis. 'Looking back on the spring, if I had to rank our guys - out of Revis - (Wilkerson) was the best player on the field,' defensive coordinator Mike Pettine said. 'He was dominant at times. He doesn't take a day off. He doesn't take a play off.'
