Summary

The Lions are an emerging fantasy defense/special teams. To the surprise of many, this unit ranked second in fantasy scoring in most formats. They did rank just 23rd overall defensively but did a great job of getting sacks, causing turnovers and scoring some points. This is a young unit that should continue to get better. The Lions had 41 sacks last season and can improve on that with the likes of Ndamukong Suh and Cliff Avril getting more seasoned. The Lions do have some issues stopping the pass, though, if they don't get the pressure on the quarterback. They lack a shutdown corner and allowed some huge passing games last season. This should be a weakness once again. The return game isn't too special with Stefan Logan and Titus Young getting the chances. Young has more upside for the big play but lacks some consistency.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
The Lions are a legit fantasy starter. They'll get you sacks and turnovers with the best of them. Detroit will allow some big yardage and point totals, though, so keep them in mind. We doubt they finish second in scoring again this year but can be around a top-10 defense/special teams.

Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew said he could see OT Riley Reiff playing left tackle next season. Mayhew said Reiff has the ability to play out positions.

The Detroit Lions could turn to offensive tackle with their No. 5 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Despite drafting OT Riley Reiff in the first round last year, Detroit still has a need at left tackle. Central Michigan OT Eric Fisher could be their target, as Lions general manager Martin Mayhew scouted Fisher last year.

Detroit Lions OT Riley Reiff is seeing more playing time as an extra tackle during running plays. Head coach Jim Schwartz said Reiff has not become a starter yet but is a staple on offense. 'He does a good job blocking point of attack, he does a good job blocking on the edge and he does a good job pass protecting when we call passes with it,' Schwartz said.

Updating a previous item, Detroit Lions OT Riley Reiff's deal includes a $4.25-million signing bonus but no guaranteed money in the fourth year. Though none of his 2015 base salary is guaranteed, Reiff did receive a $325,000 bonus in the fourth year. His contract is valued at just under $8 million, with $6.5 million guaranteed.
