Detroit Lions QB Kellen Moore struggled in his first professional appearance in the preseason game Friday, Aug. 10, against the Cleveland Browns. He misfired on 10 of his 14 pass attempts, posting just 40 yards and a quarterback rating of just 9.8. Moore and QB R.J. Archer are battling for the No. 3 job behind starter QB Matthew Stafford and No. 2 QB Shaun Hill.
Fantasy Impact: Moore might have a hard time making the team if he keeps playing like this.
Detroit Lions QB Kellen Moore appears to have the edge over QB R.J. Archer for the No. 3 quarterback job. Moore has been completing passes during practices while Archer has been throwing interceptions. Moore is still having trouble with deep passes but has become more accurate on short passes.

The Detroit Lions may decide to keep only two quarterbacks on their final roster and use the extra roster spot on another position. If the team does keep three quarterbacks, QBs Kellen Moore and R.J. Archer will compete for that spot during training camp.

Detroit Lions QB Kellen Moore is considered the favorite for the No. 3 quarterback job but he will have to earn the roster spot during training camp and the preseason. There is a chance the team may try to add him to their practice squad and go with two quarterbacks on the final roster.

Detroit Lions QB Kellen Moore has shown a lack of arm strength, which has been noticeable this offseason. However, fellow QB Matthew Stafford came to his aid. 'I've seen him throw comebacks,' Stafford said. 'I think he has plenty of arm. He's not going to be (Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers), ripping it 60, 75-yards downfield, but he's got plenty of arm to win. He knows what he does best and how he can win.'
