Gonzalez was supposed to retire after last season but he is going to give it another go after playing at a very high level once again in 2012. He had as good of a year as ever, catching 93 passes for 930 yards and eight touchdowns. This was his best season in four years with the Falcons. He had at least three receptions in all but a game and nine of 16 games with 50-plus yards. Even at age 37, Gonzalez hasn't shown much signs of slowing down. He keeps himself in great shape and just keeps chugging along. He should once again be a big part of the Falcons passing game. Gonzalez remains a great athlete and an extremely tough cover at tight end. He makes the tough catch in traffic because of his size, but can also outrun defenders because of his speed. He also knows his limitations at this point and plays to his strengths.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

Gonzalez remains an elite fantasy tight end. He isn't a top-five option anymore but just outside that group. You can't expect him to repeat last season but you can come close. He can get around 80 receptions for 800 yard and seven touchdowns. He might have a few more down games at this stage of his career but he'll continue to be a productive player in a great passing game.

Despite the fact Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez is returning for one final season in 2013, general manager Thomas Dimitroff said the team will still look to tight end in the upcoming NFL Draft. 'You don't deviate from your plan when you go into the draft after bringing a guy back. We don't know if we are going to have Tony Gonzalez past one year. Our eyes are still on many positions in this draft and there is no question - this may be selling it out a little bit - but we continue to look at the tight end (position),' Dimitroff said Friday, April 5.

Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez said 2013 will be his last season even though he signed a two-year deal. He said he is a little tempted to try to break the all-time receiving record but understands it would probably take him four years to break the record.

Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez said returning for the 2013 season was the right thing to do after talking to teammates, coaches and team personnel. 'Matt Ryan, Arthur Blank, Mike Smith, Roddy White, all the guys really want me back,' Gonzalez said. 'I went home thinking it was over, and I talked to my family and really sat down with them and discussed the pros and cons of returning, and really, I couldn't think of too many cons ...
