Summary

Wide Receiver Rank: #169All Players: #488
Moss found his way back into the league last season, playing with the 49ers. He was in a starting role much of the year but didn't produce big numbers by any means. He had fewer than 500 yards and scored three touchdowns. Once again he was used as a decoy more than anything. Moss topped 50 yards once all season and his high in yards was 75. He was once the best receiver in the game but is reserve material at this point of his career. He can still make the big play on occasion but his days of being the top dog are long gone. Moss still has good hands and is very athletic, but lacks a little speed from past years and still looks disinterested at times when playing, which isn't a good sign.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Moss really isn't a fantasy option anymore. He got few chances last season despite playing in a starting role much of the season. He'll have a hard time matching last year's mediocre numbers this season. Just go with other options.

comments about Randy Moss

Notes

San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said the team isn't considering re-signing WR Randy Moss after learning that WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles') tore his Achilles' Wednesday, May 22. Harbaugh said the team is intrigued with the depth of young receivers they have on roster, and they are looking forward to them stepping up to the task. WR A.J. Jenkins, the team's 2012 first-round pick, will have a chance to make an impact in his second year. Jenkins has spent the offseason adding muscle and working with QB Colin Kaepernick.

Free-agent WR Randy Moss (49ers) is still undecided if he will play football this season. There was reportedly interest in Moss a few months ago, although nothing has transpired since. Moss had only 434 yards last season.
Fantasy Impact: We doubt he gets another chance even if he wants to continue to play.

The San Francisco 49ers have indicated that they will not look to re-sign impending free-agent WR Randy Moss this offseason.
Fantasy Impact: Moss might have a hard time finding work with any team in 2013.

San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said he was very happy with how impending free-agent WR Randy Moss performed this season but is not sure if he will return to the team next season.
Fantasy Impact: We don't see him returning after some of the comments made by Moss late in the season.

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent WR Randy Moss conveyed his frustration about his role this past season, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. 'In a competitive way, yes,' Harbaugh said. 'He wants to be involved. We've talked about it many times, suggestions he would make. It's all been positive. It's all been good.' Harbaugh would not say if Moss will return to the team in 2013. 'I don't know about that,' Harbaugh said. 'Next question.'
Fantasy Impact: It sounds like Moss has played his last down in San Francisco.

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent WR Randy Moss likely will not re-sign with team this offseason because he did not like his role during the season and likely would not receive a bigger role if he returned. Moss has said he would like another season in the NFL.

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees initially laughed when asked about the possibility of the team pursuing San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss in the offseason; however, the quarterback pointed out that when Moss worked out for the Saints during his 2011 retirement, the coaches told him that Moss 'can still run.' Moss has not been happy with his role in the 49ers offense this season.
Fantasy Impact: We can't see Moss landing with the Saints.

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss maintained his position that he is the best wide receiver to ever play the game. When asked about his stats compared to former NFL WR Jerry Rice, Moss said he didn't have the luxury of spending nearly 14 full seasons with former NFL QBs Joe Montana and Steve Young. 'I wouldn't base (being the greatest) off (stats) because if I had two Hall of Fame quarterbacks, where would my numbers be?' Moss said. 'I worked with one for a few years, and that's Tom Brady. Give me Tom Brady for the next five, six years, and you'll see where my numbers would be...'

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss said physically he could play another three to five years; however, mentally he's not sure he could do it.
Fantasy Impact: We don't think he could play that long and be effective. Moss can think that way, though, if he wants.

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss said Tuesday, Jan. 29, he will go down as the greatest wide receiver in league history. 'Now that I'm older, I do think I'm the greatest receiver to ever do it,' Moss said. The receiver added his impact went beyond statistics. 'I don't really live on numbers. I really live on impact and what you're able to do out on the field. I really think I'm the greatest receiver to ever play this game.'
