San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said the team isn't considering re-signing WR Randy Moss after learning that WR Michael Crabtree (Achilles') tore his Achilles' Wednesday, May 22. Harbaugh said the team is intrigued with the depth of young receivers they have on roster, and they are looking forward to them stepping up to the task. WR A.J. Jenkins, the team's 2012 first-round pick, will have a chance to make an impact in his second year. Jenkins has spent the offseason adding muscle and working with QB Colin Kaepernick.

Free-agent WR Randy Moss (49ers) is still undecided if he will play football this season. There was reportedly interest in Moss a few months ago, although nothing has transpired since. Moss had only 434 yards last season.

San Francisco 49ers impending free-agent WR Randy Moss conveyed his frustration about his role this past season, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. 'In a competitive way, yes,' Harbaugh said. 'He wants to be involved. We've talked about it many times, suggestions he would make. It's all been positive. It's all been good.' Harbaugh would not say if Moss will return to the team in 2013. 'I don't know about that,' Harbaugh said. 'Next question.'

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees initially laughed when asked about the possibility of the team pursuing San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss in the offseason; however, the quarterback pointed out that when Moss worked out for the Saints during his 2011 retirement, the coaches told him that Moss 'can still run.' Moss has not been happy with his role in the 49ers offense this season.

San Francisco 49ers WR Randy Moss maintained his position that he is the best wide receiver to ever play the game. When asked about his stats compared to former NFL WR Jerry Rice, Moss said he didn't have the luxury of spending nearly 14 full seasons with former NFL QBs Joe Montana and Steve Young. 'I wouldn't base (being the greatest) off (stats) because if I had two Hall of Fame quarterbacks, where would my numbers be?' Moss said. 'I worked with one for a few years, and that's Tom Brady. Give me Tom Brady for the next five, six years, and you'll see where my numbers would be...'

'Now that I'm older, I do think I'm the greatest receiver to ever do it,' Moss said. The receiver added his impact went beyond statistics. 'I don't really live on numbers. I really live on impact and what you're able to do out on the field. I really think I'm the greatest receiver to ever play this game.'
