SUMMARY
Running Back Rank: #45
Overall: #166

Jones failed to top 1,000 yards for the first time in five seasons. He still had a pretty good year, though, his first with the Chiefs. He ran for 896 yards and finished with more than 1,000 total yards, which is impressive for a 32 year old back. Jones faded after a fast start, showing his age. He had fewer than 70-rushing yards his last six games. Jones had 80-plus rushing yards four of his first six games and scored three touchdowns during that stretch. Jones is finally starting to show his age, lacking some of his usual burst late in the season. He is best served in a reserve role at this point in his career. Jones isn't a huge back, but is fast with surprising power. He also catches the ball pretty well out of the backfield.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Jones is fading fast. All his carries are finally catching up. He really slowed late last season, which is a concern going forward. He'll be hard pressed to match his production from last season. A season with 700 or so total yards and four or five scores seems realistic for Jones.
Kansas City Chiefs RB Dexter McCluster carried 12 times for 61 yards and a touchdown in the Week 17 game against the Denver Broncos. He also had three receptions for 25 yards, and was targeted six times. He split carries with RB Thomas Jones, who finished with 15 carries for just 42 yards.

Kansas City Chiefs interim coach Romeo Crennel said Wednesday, Dec. 28, that the team doesn't have a lot of depth in the backfield for Week 17 if RB Jackie Battle (foot) cannot play. 'You might say we're borderline as far as depth goes,' Crennel said. FB Le'Ron McClain might get carries along with RBs Thomas Jones and Dexter McCluster. The team also has RB Shaun Draughn on the practice squad, and he might be promoted for added depth.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Thomas Jones had just 12 rushing yards on five carries in the Week 14 game against the New York Jets. He moved past former New York Giants RB Tiki Barber and former Tennessee Titans RB Eddie George into 22nd place on the NFL's career list.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Thomas Jones had 13 carries for 37 yards in Week 12 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, leading a three-headed rushing attack. RB Dexter McCluster had nine rushes for 28 yards, and he added two grabs for 11 yards. RB Jackie Battle was held to 20 yards on nine attempts, and he did not have a catch.
Fantasy Impact: None of the Chiefs' backs are worth using right now.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Thomas Jones had eight carries for a team-high 48 yards in Week 11 against the New England Patriots Monday, Nov. 21. RB Dexter McCluster also had eight rushes for 39 yards, while RB Jackie Battle chipped in with eight runs for 33 yards.
Fantasy Impact: None of the Chiefs backs have much fantasy value right now.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Thomas Jones had just five carries for 10 yards in the Week 8 game Monday, Oct. 31, against the San Diego Chargers. He also did not have any receptions. The carries and yardage totals were his fewest since Week 1. He has been passed on the depth chart by RB Jackie Battle, who is now the feature back. RB Dexter McCluster also saw nine touches to Jones' five.
Fantasy Impact: Jones isn't worth owning unless your are in a really deep league.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Thomas Jones had 14 carries for just 31 yards in Week 3 against the San Diego Chargers. He also had a two-yard reception in his first game starting in place of RB Jamaal Charles (knee), who is lost for the season.
Fantasy Impact: Jones isn't going to help fantasy teams most weeks at this stage of his career.

Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Bill Muir said there is will be no limit to how many carries RB Thomas Jones will get in Week 3. 'Wherever he's been, he's loved to carry the ball,' Muir said. 'We understand his age. No, we don't have a plan. We'll (give him the ball) until his tongue is hanging out.'

Updating a previous report, the Kansas City Chiefs will be using a running back by committee approach because of the injury to RB Jamaal Charles (knee). RBs Dexter McCluster, Thomas Jones and Jackie Battle and FB Le'Ron McClain could receive carries the rest of the season.
Fantasy Impact: McCluster has most value in our eyes but Jones should get the goal-line work.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Thomas Jones likely will receive an increased role in the offense now that RB Jamaal Charles (knee) is out for the season because he has not missed a game since 2005 and does not have any fumbling issues.
Fantasy Impact: Jones will get his carries with Charles out but his upside isn't too high at this point of his career. Don't expect much.
