Team Grade:
Carolina Panthers
Quarterbacks: Running Backs:
Wide Receivers: Tight Ends:
Defense: Kickers:

The Panthers have a great defense, so that will keep them in plenty of games - even if the offense has some struggles, which is possible. It will be hard for Carolina to match last season but should contend for a playoff spot and division title. The defense can shut down the opposition and Newton can carry an offense at times, which is a good combo. Just don't be surprised if the team loses a couple more game compared to last year.
Tight end Greg Olsen has been very good since joining the Panthers but he can take his game to another level this season. He is going to be the top passing target and should get a ton of targets with the Panthers thin at the receiver position. Olsen has the trust of Cam Newton and should lead the team in targets for the season. It wouldn't surprise if he even hits the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career. He'll be a solid No. 1 fantasy tight end this season.
We don't necessarily think Cam Newton will be awful this season but he likely won't live up to his draft spot. Newton lost a ton at receiver and didn't gain much during the offseason. He just has little to work with in the passing game and the running game is a concern with two backs that seem to be fading rather than getting better. It is going to be hard for Newton to produce big numbers in this offense. It is a shame to see him not being able to shine because of a lack of supporting talent.

Jul 29, 10:40 AM Carolina Panthers WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) doesn't have a timetable for his return after bruising his left knee, but he is expected to be back in days, not weeks. Head coach Ron Rivera said Benjamin should be back before the end of training camp Aug. 12. So far in camp, Benjamin has looked really good and hasn't dropped a pass during team drills while running with the first-team offense. WR Jason Avant moved up to the first-team offense Monday, July 28, with Benjamin out.

Fantasy Impact: He'll be the No. 1 receiver in this offense as long as he is healthy.

Benjamin is heading for an MRI exam Monday, July 28. 'He's had a great camp,' Rivera said. 'He came in in tip-top shape and ready to roll. He's one of those guys who spent time with Cam (before camp) working out. It's one of those that we want to make sure and be smart about.' Benjamin's MRI results are expected later Monday.

Jul 25, 08:42 PM Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (ankle) said his ankle is not 100 percent at this point, but it is getting better each day.
