Team Grade:
Carolina Panthers
Quarterbacks: Running Backs:
Wide Receivers: Tight Ends:
Defense: Kickers:

The Panthers have a great defense, so that will keep them in plenty of games - even if the offense has some struggles, which is possible. It will be hard for Carolina to match last season but should contend for a playoff spot and division title. The defense can shut down the opposition and Newton can carry an offense at times, which is a good combo. Just don't be surprised if the team loses a couple more game compared to last year.
Tight end Greg Olsen has been very good since joining the Panthers but he can take his game to another level this season. He is going to be the top passing target and should get a ton of targets with the Panthers thin at the receiver position. Olsen has the trust of Cam Newton and should lead the team in targets for the season. It wouldn't surprise if he even hits the 1,000-yard mark for the first time in his career. He'll be a solid No. 1 fantasy tight end this season.
We don't necessarily think Cam Newton will be awful this season but he likely won't live up to his draft spot. Newton lost a ton at receiver and didn't gain much during the offseason. He just has little to work with in the passing game and the running game is a concern with two backs that seem to be fading rather than getting better. It is going to be hard for Newton to produce big numbers in this offense. It is a shame to see him not being able to shine because of a lack of supporting talent.

The NFL could choose to suspend Hardy for as many as four games based on recent disciplinary actions. League spokesman Brian McCarthy said the NFL would review Hardy's legal situation at the 'appropriate time.' The league usually doesn't punish first-time offenders until their legal cases have run their course. However, the Panthers could take action against Hardy before the NFL's decision.
Jul 17, 09:12 AM Carolina Panthers DE Greg Hardy could be cut by the team because, according to former DE Mike Rucker, Panthers owner Jerry Richardson is sensitive to the topic of domestic violence. The guilty verdict could at least keep the team from looking to re-sign him to a long-term deal.
Jul 15, 11:13 PM Carolina Panthers DE Greg Hardy was found guilty Tuesday, July 15, of assaulting of assaulting a female and communicating threats. Mecklenburg County Judge Rebecca Thorn-Tin sentenced Hardy to 18 months' probation. A 60-day jail sentence was suspended. Jul 11, 12:17 PM Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton will work with his wide receivers before training camp gets underway to try to get on the same page after missing time due to an ankle issue. 'It's been more difficult because Cam's coming off an ankle injury and he had to get surgery, so we couldn't throw with him as much as we would like,' Panthers receiver Tiquan Underwood said. 'I know we're all going to get together next week in Charlotte. We're just going to try to speed up the process. We're all going to throw - Derek Anderson, Cam Newton, Joe Webb, Matt Blanchard and all the receivers - just to work on timing and get that down pat before camp.'
