Outlook

The Bengals have been a fixture in the playoffs the last few seasons. We donā??t see a change in that this season. The defense is a top-five unit and the offense does enough to get this team plenty of wins. Expect more of the same this year. But until the Bengals get better play at quarterback during the playoffs, this team wonā??t do much in the postseason. It could be a make or break year for a lot of people on this team as the franchise wants more during the playoffs this year.
FANTASY BREAKOUT
Running back Jeremy Hill had a big rookie season, emerging as the starter for the Bengals. But remember, he didnā??t start from day one last year, so his numbers can improve from last year. Hill will be the starter in this run-first offense, giving him plenty of touches on a weekly basis. He has a chance to be an elite fantasy back this season. The only thing holding him back from even bigger numbers is below average reception totals at running back. Until he improves those reception totals, Hill will be just outside that elite group of fantasy backs.
FANTASY DUD
You pretty much know what to expect from quarterback Andy Dalton at this point of his career. Heā??ll give you some big games but disappear in others. He is a tough player to count on for fantasy teams, so donā??t expect a sudden change this year. The Bengals still lack a top No. 2 receiver and play more of a run-first offense. This hurts Daltonā??s overall numbers. Plus, Dalton seems to be on the hot seat to produce better this year, especially in the playoffs. This could result in him pressing a little more and making more mistakes. Please donā??t count on Dalton to be anything more than a No. 2 for fantasy teams.

Team Notes

Aug 24, 11:32 PM Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed six of his 13 pass attempts for 46 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in the preseason game Monday, Aug. 24, against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Aug 19, 09:43 PM Cincinnati Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu entered practice Wednesday, Aug. 19, in the slot in a three-wide formation. It was the first time he worked in the formation during camp. WRs A.J. Green and Marvin Jones were the starters.
Aug 19, 09:43 PM Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones ran with the first-team offense on the outside for the second consecutive practice Wednesday, Aug. 19.
Aug 17, 07:02 PM Cincinnati Bengals DE Michael Johnson (knee) said he is not sure when he will able to return to practice but hopes he will be ready for the start of the regular season.
Aug 14, 06:12 PM Cincinnati Bengals PK Mike Nugent (undisclosed) is not expected to play in the first preseason game Friday, Aug. 14.
Aug 13, 12:13 AM Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) was able to take part in his first practice in pads Wednesday, Aug. 12. He was running with the first team offense. 'Feel good opening up really for the first time since I've been back in this thing,' Jones said.
Aug 12, 08:03 PM Cincinnati Bengals WR Rex Burkhead will play a big role in the team's offense in 2015. Burkhead will be an excellent option as a slot receiver, as he creates tough matchups against opposing linebackers.
Aug 12, 01:03 PM Cincinnati Bengals QB A.J. McCarron (undisclosed) said he is considered day-to-day because of an undisclosed injury. McCarron said his current injury has nothing to do with the shoulder injury he had last season.
Aug 11, 07:23 PM Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard finished as the 16th best running back in point-per-reception leagues last year, despite RB Jeremy Hill starting eight games.
Aug 10, 03:22 PM Cincinnati Bengals LB Rey Maualuga (hamstring) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, Aug. 10, after passing his physical.
Aug 09, 08:32 PM Cincinnati Bengals QB A.J. McCarron led a pair of scoring drives with the first-team offense during a scrimmage Saturday, Aug. 8. 'I thought he was even better than last night,' offensive coordinator Hue Jackson said. 'Every time he completed a ball his confidence skyrocketed. It's a good opportunity for him to continue to grow.'
Aug 08, 03:52 PM Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) returned to practice Saturday, Aug. 8. Jones had been sitting because of a sore right hamstring.
Aug 07, 10:32 PM Cincinnati Bengals WR Marvin Jones (hamstring) said Friday, Aug. 7, that he has missed the last four days of practice because of soreness in his right hamstring.
Aug 04, 02:02 AM Cincinnati Bengals RB Jeremy Hill is likely to see a majority of the reps in the backfield over RB Giovani Bernard, according to beat writer Paul Dehner Jr.
Aug 04, 01:53 AM Cincinnati Bengals RB Giovani Bernard might see an expanded role as a punt returner this season. He returned two punts for touchdowns in college, and was working as a returning the preseason in his rookie season before his running back role expanded. If he sees fewer snaps playing alongside RB Jeremy Hill it might open up an opportunity for Bernard on special teams.
Aug 03, 02:32 PM Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Bengals DE Michael Johnson (knee) will be out four weeks with a grade 2 medial collateral ligament sprain.
