Outlook

The Bengals had a great season last year but struggled in the playoffs once again. They need to take that next step during the postseason. Could this be the year? Much of it will depend on Andy Dalton, who has struggled with his playoff chances. A move to a more run-first approach might be a good thing for Dalton, taking a little of the pressure off of him. The Bengals have an elite defense that can shut down the opposition and keep them in almost any game. This will be a very good team once again that could take a step forward in the playoffs this season.
FANTASY BREAKOUT
Running back Giovani Bernard moves into the starting lineup his second season in the league. He had a very good rookie season but lost plenty of touches to BenJarvus Green-Ellis. That won't be the case this season but he will have Jeremy Hill to contend with for carries but Bernard should get more work than last season. Bernard is a complete back that does well as a runner and receiver. He lacks some size but has explosion and big-game ability. We expect plenty of big games from him this season and huge yardage numbers.
FANTASY DUD
Tight end Jermaine Gresham saw his numbers dip last season and another dip wouldn't be a surprise with Tyler Eifert emerging as the big-play target at tight end for the Bengals. Gresham just doesn't bring much to the table anymore. He'll get some catches but his yards aren't very good and he has never been much of a red-zone threat. Gresham is no longer fantasy relevant in his current situation. Eifert is the tight end to own in Cincinnati.

Team Notes

May 20, 12:43 PM The upcoming group of potential free-agent wide receivers includes four of the positions most dominant players, including Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant, Denver Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas, Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green and Atlanta Falcons WR Julio Jones, according to Spotrac.com. All four players are engaging in contract discussions on some level with their current teams.
May 12, 12:33 PM Cincinnati Bengals backup QB A.J. McCarron (shoulder), who spent almost all of his rookie season in 2014 on the non-football injury list with a shoulder injury from college, plans to push QB Andy Dalton hard for the starting job in training camp this summer. 'Andy's our starter. I know that. I love Andy to death. But I want to make him better every way that I can,' McCarron said. The coaches said McCarron looks to be throwing pain-free this offseason. He spent the offseason training with quarterbacks coaches David Morris and Tom House, and House changed some of McCarron's mechanics to help him throw tighter with more compact body control.
