2014 DRAFT GUIDE
Team Grade:
Green Bay Packers
Quarterbacks: Running Backs:
Wide Receivers: Tight Ends:
Defense: Kickers:

Outlook

The Packers had some struggles last season but still made the playoffs. They remain one of the top teams in the league and should improve on last season. The defense made some positive additions and the offense will be as good as ever. Green Bay can finish with double-digit wins and challenge for a spot in the Super Bowl. They have the talent to make a lot of noise in 2014.
FANTASY BREAKOUT
Running back Eddie Lacy was good last season but should take his game to a new level this season. He can be an elite back in this league and offense. The Packers are a pass-first team but going to the run more because of Lacy. He'll score double-digit touchdowns in this offense and can get around 1,800 total yards. He is a top three-down back capable of huge things as long as he gets the touches.
FANTASY DUD
Receiver Jarrett Boykin played well in an expanded role last season and will serve as the No. 3 receiver for the Packers to open this season. But he has rookie Davante Adams pushing him for playing time, which isn't a good thing because Adams is more talented than Boykin. And while Boykin played well last season, he was inconsistent at times. He doesn't really wow in any one area, so it might just be a matter of time before he is demoted below Adams.

Team Notes

Feb 27, 07:12 AM Free-agent WR Kevin Dorsey (Packers) has interest from at least three other teams than the New England Patriots. The teams looking at Dorsey were not specified.
Feb 25, 04:43 PM Green Bay Packers LB A.J. Hawk was released Wednesday, Feb. 25. The move will save them $3.5 million against the salary cap in 2015.

Fantasy Impact: Hawk hasn't been the same player in recent seasons, so this move wasn't a surprise.
Feb 25, 07:33 AM Free-agent WR Randall Cobb (Packers) may be targeted by the Oakland Raiders if he reaches free agency.
Feb 24, 12:13 AM Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb said prior to the start of the 2014 season that he would prove that he deserved a contract extension, and he finished the season with career highs in catches, receiving yards and touchdowns.
Feb 20, 04:32 PM Green Bay Packers LB Brad Jones was released Friday, Feb. 20. The team will save $3.75 million in salary cap space.
Feb 20, 10:52 AM Green Bay Packers LB A.J. Hawk (ankle) had surgery to remove several bone spurs from his ankle after the season. Hawk lost weight to try and compensate for the injury later in the season.
Feb 17, 04:43 PM Green Bay Packers WR Kevin Dorsey was released Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Feb 17, 12:43 PM Green Bay Packers impending free-agent WR Randall Cobb is unlikely to receive a franchise tag from the team, and instead the Packers will try to work out a long-term deal. Discussions on an extension could take place at the NFL Scouting Combine this weekend. Cobb is reportedly seeking a deal that averages $9 million per year.
Feb 16, 05:23 PM Green Bay Packers impending free-agent WR Randall Cobb may be getting a long-term deal if the Packers get their wish. Though, Cobb could also be franchise tagged. The standout receiver is reportedly seeking a deal worth $9 million per year. Cobb's agent is expected to meet with the team later this week during the NFL Scouting Combine.
Feb 16, 03:03 PM Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobb is reportedly seeking an average of $9 million per year for his new contract.
Feb 15, 10:12 AM Green Bay Packers impending free-agent CB Davon House said finding a starting job will be one of his priorities once free agency begins. House said he believes he can contribute for a defense and does not want to play solely on special teams. House said his agent is scheduled to meet with the Packers at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Feb 10, 02:23 AM Green Bay Packers QB Scott Tolzien and QB Matt Flynn both have boosters among the team's assistant coaches. The coaching staff likes Tolzien's potential, but many like Flynn because he gives a 'security blanket feel' to the team. Packers QB Aaron Rodgers has said he would like to see both backups retained.

Feb 09, 03:03 PM Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is leaning towards ceding play-calling duties to offensive coordinator Tom Clements next season.

Fantasy Impact: This might not be the worst thing for the Packers with the team being a little conservative down the stretch.
Feb 05, 04:52 PM Green Bay Packers QB Aaron Rodgers said the calf injury he suffered later on in the season was because of the poor surface in Tampa Bay. Rodgers said he thinks the Buccaneers' field should be looked at for improvements, adding that he hurt his shoulder in Tampa Bay in 2008 as well.
