Outlook

The Jaguars made some nice moves this offseason and seem to be headed in the right direction. But they are a young team and still are missing some pieces on both sides of the ball. This team should struggle once again, especially the offense. The Jaguars need Blake Bortles to emerge as that franchise quarterback to give the offense an identity. Until that happens, expect plenty of struggles from the Jaguars. Jacksonville should be a few games better than last season, though. Things are getting better for this team.
FANTASY BREAKOUT
Receiver Cecil Shorts was on his way to a 1,000-yard season last year before missing the last three games of the season because of injury. We think he can take that next step this season. He is the No. 1 receiver in this offense, an offense that should be a little more consistent this season. Shorts continues to improve every season and should make another jump this season. He is likely to get the most targets on the team.
FANTASY DUD
Quarterback Chad Henne is expected to open the season as the starter but he is just keeping the seat warm for Blake Bortles. Henne might start much of the year but Bortles will get a shot at some point, especially if the Jaguars struggle, which is likely. Henne is always capable of the big game but he'll be inconsistent in a starting role. He always has played that way, so don't expect a change this season. Bortles is the future at the position for the Jaguars.

Team Notes

Jul 31, 12:02 PM Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson has looked as a runner and a pass catcher during practice, in the opinion of USA Today Sports' Jim Corbett. Robinson bulked up to 210 pounds during the offseason.
Jul 31, 09:52 AM Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart is expected to be spelled by RBs Jordan Todman, Denard Robinson and Storm Johnson so he doesn't reach the 300-carry plateau.
Jul 30, 10:13 PM Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson (and fellow rookie WR Marqise Lee) have seen plenty of opportunity at training camp with WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) and WR Ace Sanders (personal) sidelined. Robinson has been showing off his size, physical nature and good heads, drawing the praise of general manager Dave Caldwell and head coach Gus Bradley. 'What I like about him are his strong hands,' head coach Gus Bradley said Wednesday, July 30. 'He makes catches away from his body.'
Jul 30, 10:13 PM Jacksonville Jaguars WR Marqise Lee (and fellow rookie WR Allen Robinson) have seen more reps in training camp with WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) and WR Ace Sanders (personal) sidelined. Lee has shown off his versatility, lining up all over the field so far in camp, and offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch is finding ways to get him the ball. Lee is still not 100 percent from an ankle injury suffered in June, but he is improving. 'It's coming along. I'm still getting treatment and rehab, but it's coming back gradually. I've got to keep it strong to go through an entire season,' Lee said Wednesday, July 30.

Fantasy Impact: Lee has a chance to play a big role in this offense as a rookie. He could be the No. 1 receiver before long.
Jul 30, 11:53 AM Jacksonville Jaguars WRs Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson have looked comfortable and consistent in the early part of training camp, according to John Oehser.
Jul 30, 10:53 AM Updating previous reports, Jacksonville Jaguars TE Clay Harbor (calf) will be out for a month due to the calf injury he suffered earlier in the week.
Jul 28, 10:52 PM Jacksonville Jaguars DT Roy Miller (shoulder) returned to practice Monday, July 28, after being given the day off Sunday, July 27, to rest his shoulder that he had surgery on in the offseason.
Jul 28, 08:32 PM Jacksonville Jaguars TE Clay Harbor (calf) will miss some time with a strained calf, according to John Oehser of Jaguars.com.
Jul 28, 03:02 PM Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne has been stellar in the team's first three days of training camp, according to head coach Gus Bradley. Bradley added that Henne looks comfortable and has shown a mastery of the offense.
Jul 28, 02:53 PM Jacksonville Jaguars QB Chad Henne has been given permission to call more audibles in his second season under offensive coordinator Jedd Fisch.
Jul 27, 01:12 AM Jacksonville Jaguars TE D.J. Tialavea (quadriceps) and LB J.T. Thomas (hamstring) left practice early Saturday, July 26, because of injuries. Thomas was carted off the field after suffering his injury.
Jul 26, 02:32 PM Updating a previous report, Jacksonville Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) will miss two to four weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact: You'll want to keep an eye on this one as it could be a factor early in the season.
Jul 26, 11:02 AM Jacksonville Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts (hamstring) is not participating in practice Saturday, July 26.
Jul 26, 10:32 AM Jacksonville Jaguars LB Geno Hayes (knee) is not participating in practice Sunday, July 26.
Jul 26, 02:02 AM Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart can handle the workload of a starting running back due to his build and frame, according to general manager Dave Caldwell. The GM also took issue with the opinion Gerhart cannot be a home-run hitting back.
Jul 26, 02:02 AM Jacksonville Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts has plenty of company, but general manager Dave Caldwell indicated Shorts is a big part of the plan going forward. The team drafted WRs Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson, but Caldwell said it 'was to compliment Cecil, not replace him.'
