Outlook

The Jaguars made some nice moves this offseason and seem to be headed in the right direction. But they are a young team and still are missing some pieces on both sides of the ball. This team should struggle once again, especially the offense. The Jaguars need Blake Bortles to emerge as that franchise quarterback to give the offense an identity. Until that happens, expect plenty of struggles from the Jaguars. Jacksonville should be a few games better than last season, though. Things are getting better for this team.
FANTASY BREAKOUT
Receiver Cecil Shorts was on his way to a 1,000-yard season last year before missing the last three games of the season because of injury. We think he can take that next step this season. He is the No. 1 receiver in this offense, an offense that should be a little more consistent this season. Shorts continues to improve every season and should make another jump this season. He is likely to get the most targets on the team.
FANTASY DUD
Quarterback Chad Henne is expected to open the season as the starter but he is just keeping the seat warm for Blake Bortles. Henne might start much of the year but Bortles will get a shot at some point, especially if the Jaguars struggle, which is likely. Henne is always capable of the big game but he'll be inconsistent in a starting role. He always has played that way, so don't expect a change this season. Bortles is the future at the position for the Jaguars.

Team Notes

Feb 24, 06:13 PM Jacksonville Jaguars WR Allen Robinson (foot) should be full-go once offseason activities begin in April. Robinson is recovering from surgery for a stress fracture.
Feb 22, 11:22 PM Atlanta Falcons LB Nathan Stupar is expected to receive the exclusive rights tender before the start of the new league year.
Feb 20, 12:32 AM Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart will likely be back with the team in 2015, according to head coach Gus Bradley. 'Toby's done a nice job for us,' Bradley said Thursday, Feb. 19. 'I know people may consider him a third down-type back or a short-yardage, situational back but we saw him do enough good things on first and second downs that he'll have a place with us. He is a different style of back and we're putting tougher an offense that best utilizes his strength.'
Feb 18, 11:53 PM Jacksonville Jaguars OG Brandon Linder will remain at right guard and will not become an option to compete for the right tackle spot. 'Right now, we like him at right guard,' head coach Gus Bradley said Wednesday, Feb. 18.
Feb 17, 05:33 PM Free-agent OT Brennan Williams (Texans) signed an undisclosed deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars Tuesday, Feb. 17.
Feb 17, 12:53 PM Jacksonville Jaguars impending free-agent DT Tyson Alualu's agent is expected to meet with the team at the NFL scouting combine this week.
Feb 17, 12:53 PM Jacksonville Jaguars impending free-agent CB Alan Ball's agent is expected to meet with the team at the NFL scouting combine this week.
Feb 17, 12:53 PM Jacksonville Jaguars impending free-agent LB J.T. Thomas' agent is expected to meet with the team at the NFL scouting combine this week.
Feb 06, 12:52 PM Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles won't be discouraged from running in his second season in the pros, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson. Bortles was sacked 55 times in 14 games as a rookie in 2014, and he often held the ball too long in the pocket. He was also second on the team in rushing yards, though, with 419. 'When a play does break down protection-wise and you have a guy that can go get yards, you don't want to discourage it,' Olson said. 'There is a time to make something to happen with your feet. For other quarterbacks, that's not part of their makeup. That's a strength of Blake's and we want him to continue to utilize that.'
Feb 05, 06:22 PM Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon is progressing, regarding his off-field issues, but still has strides to make. The NFL is in control of his situation as of now. Blackmon pleaded no contest late last year to a misdemeanor for marijuana possession, among a litany of other problems.
Feb 01, 09:22 AM Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon has 'paid his dues' and has 'his life together,' according to owner Shahid Khan. Khan is also 'very optimistic' Blackmon will return to the team next season.

Fantasy Impact: We'll see. Nothing is a given with Blackmon right now.
Jan 27, 11:23 PM Jacksonville Jaguars LB Paul Posluszny (pectoral) said Monday, Jan. 26, that he is progressing nicely in his recovery from a torn pectoral muscle. 'I'm pretty much back to normal,' Posluszny said. He has resumed weightlifting and vows to be ready for the team's offseason program which begins in mid-April.
Jan 26, 11:23 PM Jacksonville Jaguars LB Paul Posluszny (chest) said Monday, Jan. 26, that he is back to lifting after dealing with a torn pectoral muscle last season, and he expects to be 100% when offseason activities begin in April.
Jan 25, 09:22 PM Jacksonville Jaguars WR Justin Blackmon has overcome his issues, and plenty of league sources expect him to be back with the team in 2015.
Jan 25, 10:02 AM Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles said he plans to have a passing camp in Southern California in February with his wide receivers, tight ends and running backs in order to work on their chemistry.
Jan 23, 05:42 PM Jacksonville Jaguars impending free-agent LB Geno Hayes is not expected to re-sign with the Jaguars this offseason.
