Outlook

Miami was a bit of a disappointment last season but still finished .500 despite all sorts of injury issues and inconsistent play defensively. Things are looking up for the squad this year. You still have to wonder if the defense will be good enough in this division, but the offense looks awfully potent for the coming season. The Dolphins are going to put up some points with some upgraded talent in the passing game. Expect the Dolphins to contend for a playoff spot, finishing a few games over the .500 mark.
FANTASY BREAKOUT
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill finally put it together last season, having a career year and becoming fantasy relevant. More should be expected of him this year with the Dolphins adding more talent at receiver and along the offensive line. Tannehill should be able to improve on his solid numbers from last year. He is going to have some big games in this offense, a pass-friendly offense. Don‚??t be surprised if he doesn‚??t emerge as a solid starter for fantasy teams before the season is out.
FANTASY DUD
Kenny Stills was looking like a good fantasy player for the coming season until the Dolphins used a first-round pick on DeVante Parker. Stills will get his targets in this offense but he isn‚??t going to have that breakout season as many thought he might have with his new team. Stills just won‚??t get enough playing time to produce huge numbers. He‚??ll be hit or miss, being used to stretch the field. It wouldn‚??t surprise to see him finish with similar numbers to his past few seasons with the Saints. He‚??ll have some big games but disappear in others.

Team Notes

Apr 29, 09:03 PM Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill has impressed head coach Adam Gase so far in this young offseason. 'I didn't realize how live his arm is,' Gase said. 'The more I watch him throw, it's effortless. That ball travels down the field pretty good. He's hit some big plays, just underneath having some touch; it's been good to see things live.'
Apr 29, 08:23 PM Miami Dolphins RB Daniel Thomas already knows the offensive terminology and what to expect, according to head coach Adam Gase. Gase added that Thomas is a step ahead of everyone in meetings, too, as Thomas played under Gase when they were both with the Chicago Bears.
Apr 29, 08:03 PM Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi is viewed as the starter in the eyes of head coach Adam Gase. 'He knows he's the starter,' Gase said. 'He's showing me a lot of great things. I like his skill set. He's impressd me more both days [of practice].'
Apr 28, 11:03 AM Miami Dolphins C Mike Pouncey (illness) returned to practice Thursday, April 28.
Apr 27, 03:33 PM Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi said he wants to drop eight to ten pounds this season and play around 218 pounds to 220 pounds in order to be shiftier. He played between 228 pounds and 230 pounds last season.
Apr 27, 01:13 PM Miami Dolphins C Mike Pouncey (illness) is out of practice Wednesday, April 27, due to illness.
Apr 27, 12:53 AM Miami Dolphins DE Cameron Wake (Achilles') was able to practice Tuesday, April 26, just six months after tearing his Achilles' tendon. He worked on a limited basis, and didn't participate in team or 7-on-7 drills, but still impressive fellow DE Andre Branch. 'That's awesome. He's definitely a vet in his league. He's been playing at a high level for a long period of time. He leads by example. He's the type of player you follow,' Branch said. Head coach Adam Gase said the goal is to have Wake 100 percent when training camp arrives.

Apr 26, 08:13 PM Miami Dolphins RB Jay Ajayi has impressed new head coach Adam Gase so far in offseason workouts. 'I guess I never realized how shifty he was, and today was a great example,' Gase said. 'Just seeing him stick his foot in the ground and change direction, you didn't see him do that a lot in college. Just being able to see him move around, it was very impressive for me to see him in person. The way he cut in some of the run game schemes ? I mean, I'm really excited to see what we can do going forward.'
Apr 26, 03:53 PM Miami Dolphins CB Byron Maxwell (shoulder) said his shoulder is 100% healthy. Maxwell missed two games last season with the Philadelphia Eagles because of a sprained sternoclavicular joint in his shoulder.
Apr 22, 05:43 PM Miami Dolphins TE Jordan Cameron struggled in 2015 because the previous coaching staff did not use him to his strengths, according to a team official. The official believes things will change under the new coaching staff.
Apr 20, 01:03 PM The Miami Dolphins said they could still draft a quarterback this year despite head coach Adam Gase being committed to QB Ryan Tannehill as the starting quarterback. 'We added (Zach) Dysert, Logan Thomas, Ryan. But if the right opportunity in the draft presented for a quarterback we're not going to rule that out. We want to have as much strength and flexibility in the draft (as possible) and that's something Adam, Chris (Grier) and I talk about 25 times a day. In fact I think Adam, starts rolling his eyes when I start saying it. There's a lot more work to be done at every position,' executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum said.
Apr 13, 11:43 PM Miami Dolphins WR DeVante Parker (foot) tore scar tissue in his foot in October, missing practice time and two games. The injury set him back in his rookie season.
Apr 11, 11:23 PM The Miami Dolphins are looking at WR Griff Whalen as an under-the-radar guy with a legitimate chance at winning the No. 4 receiver job. The staff really likes him, although other competition is likely to be added.
Apr 11, 06:03 PM Miami Dolphins exclusive-rights free-agent WR Matt Hazel and CB Tyler Patmon both signed their tender offers to remain with the Dolphins Monday, April 11. Financial terms of the deals weren't disclosed.
