Outlook

The Raiders are an intriguing team for the coming season. They have a lot of young, explosive talent on both sides of the ball. This team should make strides this year and be around a .500 team. The Raiders might be a few seasons away from a playoff spot, though. They still have some question marks defensively, especially in the secondary, and all the young players could cause for some growing pains along the way. Things are finally looking up for this franchise, though. Their arrow is pointing up.
FANTASY BREAKOUT
Running back Latavius Murray found his way into the starting lineup late last season and did enough to show he can be the starter for the Raiders going forward. Heā??ll start from day one in what should be a much better offense. Murray is a three-down back that also catches the ball pretty well. Heā??ll get plenty of touches on a weekly basis, carrying good total yardage potential for the coming season. He is ready to become a top fantasy back and should be a big help to fantasy teams in 2015.
FANTASY DUD
A change of teams is supposed to be a good thing for receiver Michael Crabtree, but we arenā??t so sure. He just doesnā??t look like the same explosive player from earlier in his career. Major injuries seem to have zapped his speed a little, which is a concern. Crabtree hasnā??t shown much in recent seasons, so donā??t expect a sudden turnaround with the Raiders. Heā??ll produce some but donā??t overvalue him come draft day because of a move to the Raiders. He is a ho-hum talent at receiver for fantasy teams.

Team Notes

Jul 30, 10:22 AM Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson is rumored to being unimpressive with his new team.

Fantasy Impact: Not a surprise. It wouldn't be a shock to see Richardson cut before camp is over.
Jul 28, 08:53 PM Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson plans to make the most of a fresh start in Oakland. 'I know what they [the coaching staff] expect and how they're going to spread the field, putting me in a position to be successful,' said Richardson. 'With that, in talking to [Head] Coach [Jack Del Rio], he just said there is just a lot of opportunity out here. He said he isn't going to promise me anything, but if I come in and work, I can be that bell cow,' Richardson said Tuesday, July 28.
Jul 28, 08:33 AM Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders LB Sio Moore (hip) had major hip surgery in the offseason and won't need extensive time on the Physically Unable to Perform list before he's ready.
Jul 27, 05:32 PM Oakland Raiders LB Sio Moore (hip) was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, July 27.
Jul 20, 05:12 PM Oakland Raiders rookie WR Amari Cooper said he wants to individually catch passes with QB Derek Carr three more times before the start of training camp, according to Carr.
Jul 10, 05:43 PM Oakland Raiders WR Kenbrell Thompkins could be released if he does not perform well during training camp. Thompkins could be the team's No. 4 receiver if he makes the final roster.
Jul 09, 01:03 PM Oakland Raiders WR Rod Streater has been working with QB Derek Carr since the two have not played together much because of injuries. Streater missed most of last season because of a foot injury, while Carr missed most of the offseason workouts because of a finger injury. Carr is expected to hold a workout with the receivers before training camp starts.
Jul 08, 05:03 PM Oakland Raiders RB Roy Helu was one of two running backs with at least 40 targets last season that caught 89% of those targets. Helu caught 42 of his 44 targets. The other running back was Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray.
Jul 06, 01:43 PM Oakland Raiders RB Trent Richardson lost some weight this offseason and showed some quickness during offseason workouts, according to offensive line coach Mike Tice.

Fantasy Impact: We have heard this one before. It is tough to buy into anything positive for Richardson with the way he has played the past few seasons.
Jul 06, 01:43 PM Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray performed well during the mandatory minicamp this offseason, according to offensive line coach Mike Tice. Tice said Murray showed good speed and finish during practices.
Jul 05, 11:33 PM Oakland Raiders RB Roy Helu had an 'outstanding' offseason and showed good quickness, awareness and hands, according to offensive line coach Mike Tice.
Jun 30, 09:43 PM Oakland Raiders WR Michael Crabtree received recognition from QB Derek Carr Tuesday, June 30, for his presence in the locker room. 'He's such a great teammate. I love the guy. I talk to him all the time. We're always talking about the game. We're always talking ball. We're always talking routes, concepts, and what we're going to do during the game, and hand signals, all those things. He is a football junkie. He's been a nice guy, a nice addition to our team,' said Carr.
Jun 28, 08:32 PM Oakland Raiders FB Marcel Reece said he doesn't expect a drop off in chemistry as RB Latavius Murray replaces RB Darren McFadden this season because Murray has spent the last couple of years watching film and talking football with Reece.

Jun 27, 04:32 PM Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray has the opportunity to be the team's No. 1 running back in 2015, and it's one he embraces. 'It's a great feeling, but every day I have to go in there knowing I need to get better every day,' Murray explained. 'I need to play like it's a new year. Last season is just last season and the year before that it was the year before that. Every season is a new year for me and it's a year I have to go out and prove something.'
Jun 23, 09:23 PM Oakland Raiders WR Rod Streater (foot) appears to be back from a foot injury which curtailed his 2014 season, and his explosiveness was back in minicamp.
