The Raiders made a lot of moves this offseason and should be improved over last season. Oakland can improve on those four wins but aren't quite a playoff team just yet. The offense still needs a top No. 1 receiver and the aging Matt Schaub isn't the long-term answer at quarterback. The defense also is erratic and can give up the big game, which also is a concern. But overall, the team is improving and getting better, which is a good thing for the Raiders.
Receiver Rod Streater was the most consistent receiver for the Raiders last season. He nearly 900 yards and caught 60 passes. He'll start from day one this season and has a much better quarterback situation to work with this season. Matt Schaub is a big improvement over what the Raiders used last season, which is a plus for Streater. He could have some big games and push towards that 1,000-yard mark this season. He is good late-round sleeper for fantasy teams, ready to take his game to a new level.
Running back Maurice Jones-Drew heads to Oakland this season in hopes of reviving his career. We aren't so sure that will happen, though. He moves to a timeshare with the Darren McFadden and likely sees a dip in touches this season. And Jones-Drew hasn't looked nearly as explosive the last few seasons, which is another concern. Plus, we think McFadden is a more talented back at this stage of his career, so he could run away with the starter's job if he happens to stay healthy. Don't expect Jones-Drew to turn things around with the Raiders.

Team Notes

Feb 27, 07:02 AM Free-agent C Stefen Wisniewski (Raiders) is drawing interest from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Feb 25, 04:23 PM Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew could be on his way out of Oakland after a disappointing 2014 campaign. The veteran running back played in 12 games and averaged just 2.2 yards on 43 carries.
Feb 25, 07:23 AM Oakland Raiders MLB Nick Roach (head) is still having headaches related to a concussion he suffered last season, and he may not play next season according to team sources.
Feb 23, 03:13 PM The Oakland Raiders signed PK Giorgio Tavecchio to an undisclosed contract Monday, Feb. 23.
Feb 18, 06:53 PM Oakland Raiders LB Sio Moore (hip) will be brought along slowly this offseason, following surgery after the season, and will likely miss organized team activities.
Feb 13, 06:42 PM Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew will need to keep his weight where it needs to be next season so he can be an explosive runner again, according to head coach Jack Del Rio.
Feb 13, 06:32 PM Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray has shown the traits to be a candidate for the starting running back job next season, according to head coach Jack Del Rio. 'I think he has shown enough of the traits to make him a candidate to be that guy,' Del Rio said. 'I don't know that he's earned that yet. He's shown that there is potential there. He's done enough things to pique your interest. He's got size and speed. He can go. There are some things that we will need to work to improve, such as overall awareness and football IQ.' Del Rio said the offensive line can do a better job opening more holes for Murray.

Fantasy Impact: Murray should be the starter for the Raiders next season and has a good shot for a breakout year.
Feb 10, 04:23 PM Oakland Raiders QB Derek Carr is excited for the team's no-huddle offense under new offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave. 'Sometimes, the games were really slow for me [last season],' Carr said. 'It was almost like I was waiting for it to speed up.' Carr had experience with the no-huddle offense in college at Fresno State University and said he's very comfortable in it.
Jan 22, 10:12 PM San Francisco 49ers tight ends coach Tony Sparano tutored Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten in his first two years in the NFL, and ESPN.com's Paul Gutierrez believes TE Vernon Davis could benefit from having Sparano as a position coach.

Jan 22, 04:33 AM Tony Sparano, the former Oakland Raiders head coach, is being pursued by the San Francisco 49ers. The team may be looking at Sparano for the tight ends coaching position, which Sparano did early in his career.
Jan 21, 12:53 PM Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray is likely to be the team's lead back in 2015, and new offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave plans tailor his system to Murray's talents. Musgrave has guided a top-10 rushing attack in four of his six seasons as an offensive coordinator. Murray had just 82 carries last year and also added 17 catches and 567 total yards of offense.

Fantasy Impact: Murray has a chance to post big numbers in the Raiders new offense.
Jan 19, 09:53 PM Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray could benefit from offensive coordinator Bill Musgrave, who has used a run-heavy style in the past.
Jan 08, 02:53 AM Former Oakland Raiders coach and television analyst John Madden sat in on the interview with free-agent coach Mike Shanahan (Redskins) for the head coach job, and sources indicate he will be present when the team interviews Tony Sparano.
Jan 07, 12:23 PM Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew said he hopes to return to the team next season even though he wished he would have received more work this season. Jones-Drew finished the season with 98 yards on 43 carries. The Raiders would save $2.5 million in salary cap space if they released Jones-Drew.
Jan 04, 02:32 PM Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray likely will be the team's featured running back next season.
