The Raiders made a lot of moves this offseason and should be improved over last season. Oakland can improve on those four wins but aren't quite a playoff team just yet. The offense still needs a top No. 1 receiver and the aging Matt Schaub isn't the long-term answer at quarterback. The defense also is erratic and can give up the big game, which also is a concern. But overall, the team is improving and getting better, which is a good thing for the Raiders.
Receiver Rod Streater was the most consistent receiver for the Raiders last season. He nearly 900 yards and caught 60 passes. He'll start from day one this season and has a much better quarterback situation to work with this season. Matt Schaub is a big improvement over what the Raiders used last season, which is a plus for Streater. He could have some big games and push towards that 1,000-yard mark this season. He is good late-round sleeper for fantasy teams, ready to take his game to a new level.
Running back Maurice Jones-Drew heads to Oakland this season in hopes of reviving his career. We aren't so sure that will happen, though. He moves to a timeshare with the Darren McFadden and likely sees a dip in touches this season. And Jones-Drew hasn't looked nearly as explosive the last few seasons, which is another concern. Plus, we think McFadden is a more talented back at this stage of his career, so he could run away with the starter's job if he happens to stay healthy. Don't expect Jones-Drew to turn things around with the Raiders.

Team Notes

Sep 17, 06:03 PM Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Fantasy Impact: Jones-Drew is no sure thing to return this week.
Sep 17, 06:03 PM Oakland Raiders LB Sio Moore (ankle), CB Carlos Rogers (knee), WR Rod Streater (hip) and DE Justin Tuck (illness) did not practice Wednesday, Sept. 17. CB Chimdi Chekwa (knee), OT Matt McCants (knee) and LB Nick Roach (concussion) were limited.
Sep 15, 05:43 PM The Oakland Raiders signed free-agent WR Vincent Brown (Chargers) to a one-year contract Monday, Sept. 15. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fantasy Impact: We doubt he'll make a big impact but could grab some playing time for the Raiders, a team looking for help at receiver.
Sep 15, 02:32 PM Oakland Raiders WR Rod Streater (hip) suffered a hip flexor injury Week 2.
Sep 15, 02:22 PM Oakland Raiders LB Sio Moore (ankle) left the game early Week 2 because of an ankle injury.
Sep 14, 03:32 PM Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) has been declared inactive for Week 2.
Sep 14, 03:12 PM The Oakland Raiders have declared OG Tony Bergstrom, S Jonathan Dowling, DE Shelby Harris, RB Maurice Jones-Drew, OT Matt McCants, QB Matt McGloin, LB Nick Roach inactive for Week 2.
Sep 14, 12:22 PM Oakland Raiders CB Taiwan Jones (foot) underwent surgery on his foot earlier this week, which is why he was placed on the Reserve/Injured list.
Sep 13, 02:12 PM Oakland Raiders CB Taiwan Jones (foot) was placed on Reserve/Injured Saturday, Sept. 13.
Sep 12, 06:42 PM Updating a previous report, Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 12, and is questionable for Week 2.
Sep 12, 06:32 PM Oakland Raiders CB Taiwan Jones (foot) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 12, and has been ruled out for the team's Week 2 game. OT Matt McCants did not participate in practice and is questionable. LB Kaluka Maiava (illness) and LB Nick Roach (concussion) were both limited in practice and are questionable. CB Chimdi Chekwa (knee) fully participated in practice and is probable.
Sep 12, 04:42 PM Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) remains questionable for the Week 2 game against the Houston Texans, according to head coach Dennis Allen.

Fantasy Impact: Jones-Drew is really iffy to play. We would just avoid him.
Sep 12, 04:22 PM Oakland Raiders RBs Darren McFadden and Latavius Murray will both receive a crack at the running back duties in Week 2 against the Houston Texans with RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) unlikely to play, according to offensive coordinator Greg Olson. The Raiders only had 25 yards rushing on 12 carries in Week 1 against the New York Jets.

Fantasy Impact: McFadden has some value as a flex play but don't overvalue him just because he is starting.
Sep 12, 08:42 AM Oakland Raiders RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) is expected to miss the Week 2 game, according to multiple sources. Jones-Drew had a small bandage covering a surgical site below his index finger, and his hand was swollen Thursday, Sept. 11. He said he didn't break his hand, however, multiple sources have reported that he did break his hand. He's not expected to miss a lot of time.
Sep 11, 07:02 PM Oakland Raiders RB Darren McFadden will get the start in Week 2 against the Houston Texans if RB Maurice Jones-Drew (hand) is unable to play.

Fantasy Impact: McFadden seems to have a decent shot to start but still isn't a great fantasy play. We would consider him a flex option.
Sep 11, 06:22 PM Oakland Raiders CB Taiwan Jones (foot) and OT Matt McCants (knee) did not practice Thursday, Sept. 11. LBs Kaluka Maiava (illness) and Nick Roach (concussion) were limited. CB Chimdi Chekwa (knee) fully participated.
