2014 DRAFT GUIDE
Team Grade:
Philadelphia Eagles
Quarterbacks: Running Backs:
Wide Receivers: Tight Ends:
Defense: Kickers:

Outlook

The Eagles are a team on the rise. This team made big strides last season and could be even better this year. The offense could be scary good, especially with reports in the offseason about the team working at an even faster pace this year. The defense also has the pieces in place to do well. The key might be the play of the secondary. If this unit can make strides, it wouldn't surprise to see the Eagles not only win the division title again but also contend for a Super Bowl spot.
FANTASY BREAKOUT
Receiver Jeremy Maclin is going to have some big shoes to fill this season, returning from his torn ACL and serving as the No. 1 receiver for the Eagles. We think he'll be up to the task, though. Maclin has never topped 1,000 yards in a season but is primed to do so this season. The Eagles run a ton of plays and Maclin could get the most targets on the team. He has big potential for that breakout season. He really hasn't lived up to expectations to date, posting decent but not great numbers throughout his career.
FANTASY DUD
Receiver Riley Cooper had a career season last year but his overall numbers still weren't great by any means. He failed to top 50 receptions for 900 yards. He was productive but don't overvalue him come draft day. We don't see a big bump in production, especially with DeSean Jackson gone. Jackson did a good job of drawing attention in coverage, making it a bit easier for Cooper to get open.

Apr 03, 02:02 PM Philadelphia Eagles WR Jordan Matthews said the team won't really have a designated No. 1 receiver in place to replace the production that will be lost with WR Jeremy Maclin signing with the Kansas City Chiefs. 'People ask me about being the No. 1 wide receiver; Forget it,' Matthews said. 'I want us to be a receiving corps. That's what I want it to be.' Matthews was the team's second leading receiver in 2014 with 67 catches for 872 yards and eight touchdowns as the slot receiver. Matthews is likely to play more in 2015 and on the outside. Head coach Chip Kelly said he sees Matthews playing 'a lot of different spots.' Kelly is confident in Matthews and WR Josh Huff, and TE Zach Ertz and RB Darren Sproles could be used more in the passing game.

Mar 31, 09:03 PM Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo said Tuesday, March 31, he would have taken a pay cut in order for the team to retain RB DeMarco Murray (Eagles). 'DeMarco ended up asking me, 'Why don't you take a pay cut?'' Romo said. 'I was like, 'I will. I will take a pay cut to go do this.' I was like, 'They're going to restructure me and the whole thing, 'that's the same thing in some ways just for salary-cap purposes.' In the end, the Cowboys never approached Romo about a a pay cut and Murray left for a five-year deal from the rival Philadelphia Eagles.
Mar 30, 05:32 PM Free-agent WR Miles Austin (Browns) signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, March 30. The deal is worth $2.3 million with $700,000 available in incentives, according to a source.

Fantasy Impact: This could be a good landing spot for Austin. He could play a big role with the team.
Mar 30, 05:02 PM Philadelphia Eagles LB DeMeco Ryans (Achilles') said he will be ready for training camp in July after coming back from his second torn Achilles' tendon since 2010. He will likely skip the organized team activities and minicamp, however. Ryans said he is right on schedule in his rehab after missing the final nine games of 2014.
Mar 30, 02:02 PM Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford (knee) considered quitting football after he suffered his second torn anterior cruciate ligament but was talked out of the idea by former college coach Josh Heupel. Heupel said Bradford is one of the most competitive players he has coached and that Bradford wants to come back and prove himself.
Mar 30, 11:42 AM Free-agent WR Miles Austin (Browns) will likely sign with the Philadelphia Eagles this week if all goes well with his physical, according to a source.

Fantasy Impact: Austin could grab a lot of playing time with the Eagles if he shows he is healthy and can pick up the offense quickly.
