OFFSEASON GAINS AND LOSSES

The Eagles really made some big improvements on the offensive side of the ball this offseason. They added two bookend tackles in Jason Peters and Stacy Andrews, giving them a big boost along the offensive line. Philadelphia also made some solid draft picks. They took receiver Jeremy Maclin in the first round. Maclin is a speedster and big-play threat, who should also help their return game. And the Eagles used a second-round pick on LeSean McCoy, a similar back to starter Brian Westbrook. McCoy could be the starter in a few seasons.

The Eagles lost a few key pieces in the secondary. Gone are cornerback Lito Sheppard and safety Brian Dawkins. Both veterans have been mainstays in the secondary the last several seasons, so they will be missed. The Eagles are fairly deep in the secondary, though, so they should be able to handle the losses fairly well.

STRENGTHS

The Eagles passing game should be among the top in the league. They have an emerging star in DeSean Jackson as their No. 1 receiver. The Eagles added Maclin to the mix, giving them another big-time threat in the passing game. Jackson and Maclin could be a top tandem for years to come. But you can't forget Kevin Curtis, a former 1,000-yard receiver, and Reggie Brown, a guy that has started for the Eagles and knows the offense well. Philadelphia's backs also are dangerous in the passing game. Outside of Reggie Bush, Brian Westbrook might be the best receiving back in the game. And McCoy gives the Eagles a similar threat to Westbrook out of the backfield.

Even though the Eagles lost a few pieces to their secondary, we still think it will be very good. They have two Pro Bowl talents as starting cornerbacks - Asante Samuel and Sheldon Brown. Safety Quintin Mikell emerged as a top talent, doing a great job in run support and coverage. Mikell was second on the team in tackles. Quintin Demps also should be solid at free safety, taking over for Dawkins. The Eagles have a ton of talent in the secondary, making them a tough team to throw against.

WEAKNESSES

The Eagles depth at quarterback has to be somewhat of a concern for the team. McNabb is a solid starter, but has been a little injury prone of late. After him, they have Kevin Kolb, who finally got a shot to play last season but faltered. Kolb would be a big dropoff from McNabb if forced into action. If the Eagles hope to make a Super Bowl run, they'll need McNabb healthy for the entire season.

OUTLOOK

We think the Eagles are the favorite to win the NFC. They have a ton of talent offensively and their defense was among the best in the game last season. Philly is very deep across the board and have as much talent as any team in the league. It wouldn't be a surprise to see them win it all this season. They are that good.
