The Eagles are a team on the rise. This team made big strides last season and could be even better this year. The offense could be scary good, especially with reports in the offseason about the team working at an even faster pace this year. The defense also has the pieces in place to do well. The key might be the play of the secondary. If this unit can make strides, it wouldn't surprise to see the Eagles not only win the division title again but also contend for a Super Bowl spot.
Receiver Jeremy Maclin is going to have some big shoes to fill this season, returning from his torn ACL and serving as the No. 1 receiver for the Eagles. We think he'll be up to the task, though. Maclin has never topped 1,000 yards in a season but is primed to do so this season. The Eagles run a ton of plays and Maclin could get the most targets on the team. He has big potential for that breakout season. He really hasn't lived up to expectations to date, posting decent but not great numbers throughout his career.
Receiver Riley Cooper had a career season last year but his overall numbers still weren't great by any means. He failed to top 50 receptions for 900 yards. He was productive but don't overvalue him come draft day. We don't see a big bump in production, especially with DeSean Jackson gone. Jackson did a good job of drawing attention in coverage, making it a bit easier for Cooper to get open.

Team Notes

Jul 21, 03:12 PM Former Philadelphia Eagles DE Phillip Hunt (knee) has recovered from anterior cruciate ligament surgery and should begin workouts with teams in the near future.
Jul 17, 12:32 PM Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy is unlikely to be in line for a smaller workload this year after leading the league in carries (314) and touches (366) last year. There were no signs that McCoy's production suffered because of his heavy workload in 2013, and he often mentions that his running style helps him take fewer big hits.
Jul 17, 12:32 PM Philadelphia Eagles RBs Matthew Tucker, Henry Josey and David Fluellen will battle it out in training camp and the preseason for the fourth running back spot. Tucker earned praise from head coach Chip Kelly earlier in the offseason. The Eagles are more likely to keep four running backs on roster this year given that RB Darren Sproles is 31 years old.
Jul 17, 12:22 PM Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles is a running back and not a wide receiver, the team continues to emphasize. The team's brass has bristled at the notion that Sproles will only help in the passing game. However, Sproles averaged 3.5 and 3.7 rushing attempts per game the last two years and caught 146 passes during that span, meaning he's likely to be a much bigger factor in the passing game in head coach Chip Kelly's offense.
Jul 16, 02:43 PM Philadelphia Eagles RB LeSean McCoy said he has been impressed with RB Darren Sproles and expects Sproles to help the offense. 'Sproles has the quickest feet I've ever seen out of any player,' McCoy said. 'He'll help us out tremendously. I think the best thing about him, what he brings to this team is not only leadership and experience, but also just another big playmaker on the team.'
Jul 15, 05:13 PM Philadelphia Eagles LB Trent Cole said earlier this week he feels good and believes he has at least three years left in the tank. With his experience, Cole said he knows how to rush the passer the right way and knows more about the game in general.
Jul 14, 10:33 PM Philadelphia Eagles RB Chris Polk should serve as RB LeSean McCoy's primary backup this year with RB Darren Sproles maintaining a secondary role in the offense, according to ESPN.com's Joe Kaiser.
Jul 14, 03:12 PM Philadelphia Eagles rookie WR Jordan Matthews was recently praised by wide receivers coach Bob Bicknell, who said Matthews has looked very good, is physical and has a good feel for what he wants to do.

Fantasy Impact: Matthews has a chance to play a big role his rookie season.
Jul 14, 12:02 AM Philadelphia Eagles CB Bradley Fletcher could be on the roster bubble if he loses his starting job to CB Nolan Carroll during training camp. Fletcher is scheduled to make $3.275 million in 2014.
Jul 14, 12:02 AM Philadelphia Eagles LB Brandon Graham may face an uphill battle to make the team, because he will be competing with LBs Marcus Smith, Bryan Braman and Travis Long for a roster spot. He is also scheduled to make $1.2 million this upcoming season.
Jul 09, 12:43 PM Philadelphia Eagles CB Jaylen Watkins likely will receive most of his playing time on special teams this upcoming season but could also see time in defensive subpackages because of his ability to play cornerback and safety.
Jul 08, 08:23 PM Philadelphia Eagles TE Brent Celek will likely spend more time blocking than running routes this year, according to Marcus Hayes of Philly.com. With OT Dennis Kelly (back) working his way back from an injury and OT Lane Johnson being suspended the first four games, Celek is more valuable to the team as a blocker.

Fantasy Impact: Celek isn't much of a fantasy option at this stage of his career.
Jul 08, 05:23 PM Philadelphia Eagles QB Nick Foles recently said his goals for this season include continuing to move better in the pocket, to be more efficient and to stay tight. He added that he wants to be smart with the ball and find his checkdowns early. Foles admitted improvement is 'an everyday thing, but so far, we're looking good.'
Jul 08, 12:02 AM Philadelphia Eagles DE Cedric Thornton, DT Bennie Logan and DT Fletcher Cox are expected to remain the team's starting defensive front this season, according to ESPN.com's Andy Jasner. 'It says a lot,' Cox told CSNPhilly.com. 'They believe in the guys that were in their rooms last year and they know we're headed in the right direction.'
Jul 07, 11:53 PM Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez and QB Matt Barkley are still in a tight competition for the backup QB job, according to ESPN.com's Andy Jasner.
Jul 07, 11:43 PM Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Billy Davis believes LB Marcus Smith can make an early impact because he is already familiar with the team's defense. 'Marcus has shown to do it in college,' Davis told Phillymag.com. 'That's one of the biggest things that attracted us to Marcus. The defense he ran at Louisville is very, very similar. ? Charlie Strong ran very similar to what we asked him to do here. So that was why it made such a nice fit for us.'
