The Seahawks are one of the favorites to make the Super Bowl out of the NFC. Their defense might be the best in the game right now and the offense does good things for this team to win a lot of games. Seattle will challenge for that spot in the Super Bowl and have the talent to win it all. The only concern might be the offense, which lacks some playmakers in the passing game. Quarterback Russell Wilson might be a top receiver or two short of giving this team a special offense.
He looked great in the preseason last year and is having a great offseason this year, so things are really looking up for second-year running back Christine Michael. He is going to get work in this offense and could move into more a timeshare with starter Marshawn Lynch. Lynch isn't getting any younger and has a lot of carries under his belt. Michael is the future at the position and should start to get his chances this season. He can be a difference maker for this offense because of his big-play potential.
We don't think he'll be a total flop but Marshawn Lynch might have a hard time living up to his first-round draft status. As mentioned, Lynch is getting older (nearing 30 years old) and has a lot of carries under his belt the last few seasons. Plus, his running style can be a bit taxing, which is another concern. This season could be the start of a downward trend for Lynch. His best days are likely behind him.

Team Notes

Apr 16, 12:12 PM Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson is in negotiations with the team on a long-term contract extension, but general manager John Schneider said the team will be cautious in what they offer Wilson for a new contract. Schneider will be mindful of the salary cap and the club's future. Wilson will make $1.5 million in 2015, but a new deal is expected to give him over $20 million a year and more than $100 million total.
Apr 14, 06:53 PM Seattle Seahawks LB Bruce Irvin's fifth-year option is expected to be picked up for 2016.
Apr 14, 05:23 PM Seattle Seahawks WR Ricardo Lockette signed his exclusive-rights tender Tuesday, April 14.
Apr 13, 07:02 AM Free-agent QB Tarvaris Jackson (Seahawks) and the Seattle Seahawks have had discussions about a new contract to back up QB Russell Wilson, but there has been difficulty determining Jackson's value. It is possible the team could look elsewhere for a backup.
Apr 12, 09:22 PM Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson said he hasn't ruled out a return to professional baseball and would consider playing two sports.
Apr 01, 05:23 PM Seattle Seahawks DT Jesse Williams re-signed Wednesday, April 1.
Mar 26, 01:03 AM The Seattle Seahawks are in talks with free-agent DT Kevin Williams, as they try to bring him back for at least one more season. Williams has been considering retirement.
Mar 26, 01:03 AM Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday, March 25, he is confident the team will be able to bring back free-agent QB Tarvaris Jackson. 'I think we'll still get that done,' Carroll said.
Mar 26, 12:43 AM Seattle Seahawks WR Paul Richardson (knee) might not be ready for the start of the season, head coach Pete Carroll indicated Wednesday, March 25. Carroll did say Richardson's rehab was going well, but the nature of his rehab from a torn anterior cruciate ligament means the receiver might not be ready.
Mar 24, 03:02 PM Seattle Seahawks TE Jimmy Graham was almost a Miami Dolphin as the Dolphins finished second to the Seahawks in an attempt to trade for the tight end.
Mar 23, 04:42 PM Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson could play out the 2015 season in the final year of his rookie deal without a contract extension. Wilson and the Seahawks have had no real progress on a long-term contract extension. Wilson is highly unlikely to accept a short-term deal. Wilson is preparing and budgeting as if he'll be on a bargain deal in 2015. It could take another year for both parties to agree on a long-term extension, and Wilson knows a franchise tag in 2016 would likely be for over $20 million.
Mar 22, 11:12 AM Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has not had contract extension talks with the Seattle Seahawks at this point, according to a source.
Mar 21, 12:52 AM The Seattle Seahawks and QB Russell Wilson might be on the verge of agreeing to a big and unique contract extension. 'From what I've been told they've very close, they're just trying to make sure every single thing is in place before they go forward with this,' beat writer Terry Blount said Friday, March 20. 'I think it's going to be bigger and crazier and different from what any contract has ever been.'
Mar 19, 07:32 PM Free-agent DT D'Anthony Smith (Seahawks) signed an undisclosed deal with the Seattle Seahawks Thursday, March 19.
Mar 19, 07:22 PM Free-agent DT D'Anthony Smith (Seahawks) visited with the Seattle Seahawks Thursday, March 19.
Mar 19, 06:22 PM Free-agent DT Ahtyba Rubin (Browns) is signing an undisclosed deal with the Seattle Seahawks Thursday, March 19, according to a source.
