OutlookThis team would look even better if Crabtree didn't get hurt but it happened, so they'll have to adjust. Even with Crabtree likely out all year, the 49ers have a top team. Their defense is arguably the best in the game and the offense is starting to play near the level of the defense. The 49ers are a complete team capable of another appearance in the Super Bowl. They are a very impressive team. |
|
Colin Kaepernick, QB. He might be missing his top receiver this season but Kaepernick is poised for a big season as the full-time starter from day one. He is a dual threat capable of the huge fantasy game any given week. He will be able to carry fantasy teams. The 49ers have an emerging offense with plenty of playmakers offensively - even without Michael Crabtree. Kaepernick has a rocket for an arm, above-average accuracy and top running ability for a quarterback. He is the complete package at quarterback. |
|
Frank Gore, RB. Gore had another big season last year but you have to wonder how much he has left. He is 30 years old and has a lot of carries under his belt. And the 49ers like LaMichael James a lot, so look for him to get more work and be groomed as the starter. It wouldn't surprise to see Gore get a lot fewer touches this season. Remember, he only had 259 carries last year, which isn't a huge number. Even fewer carries could be a big hit to his value. |

San Francisco 49ers WR Kyle Williams is the pre-training-camp favorite for the 'X' wide receiver spot, ahead of A.J. Jenkins, who holds the slot advantage, and others. | | Jun 16, 12:23 AM |
Seattle Seahawks CB Brandon Browner responded to San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh's recent comments about the Seahawks' rash of performance-enhancing drugs violations. 'I don't have anything for it,' Browner said. 'At the end of the day we gotta win football games. He's a coach. He's never gonna be out there lined up against me. I wish he would; I'd put my hands around his neck. At the end of the day, I'm about winning football games.' | | Jun 12, 07:53 PM |
San Francisco 49ers FS Craig Dahl said that when he was with the St. Louis Rams last year, they had a detailed scouting report on the San Fran offense that turned out to be quite successful. 'We had a few tips off of film that we were able to differentiate between run and pass early,' Dahl said. 'It was a few different things. Some different personnel and alignment stuff really were the big keys, as far as our giveaways.' | | Jun 12, 07:03 PM |
San Francisco 49ers DE Justin Smith (triceps) is slated for triceps surgery this week, and his recovery could last two or three months. He should be ready for Week 1, but the San Francisco 49ers might have to acquire more depth along their defensive front because of concerns over how many years the 33-year-old Smith has left to play. He ranks in the league's top four defensive linemen in total snaps logged over the past two seasons. | | Jun 12, 03:53 PM |
San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said DE Justin Smith's (triceps) rehab from triceps surgery is on schedule. | | Jun 11, 11:13 PM |
San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh praised WR A.J. Jenkins Tuesday, June 11, for his work so far this offseason. 'A.J. had his best week of football since he's been a 49ers the last four days of OTAs,' Harbaugh said.
Fantasy Impact: Jenkins has a chance to play a much bigger role in the offense this year, so this is good to hear. | | Jun 11, 07:23 PM |
San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has taken notice of the recent rash of performance-enhancing drug violations sanctioned against the Seattle Seahawks. Harbaugh addressed his team and also spoke with the media about it. 'It has no place in an athlete's body,' Harbaugh said. 'Play by the rules, and you always want to be above reproach, especially when you're good. Because you don't want people to come back and say, 'Oh, they're winning because they're cheating.' That's always going be a knee-jerk reaction by people in my experience ever since I was little kid.' | | Jun 10, 06:23 PM |
Updating a previous report, the San Francisco 49ers signed WR Kassim Osgood to a one-year deal worth $940,000. The deal did not include any signing bonus. | | Jun 06, 03:13 PM |
San Francisco 49ers LB Dan Skuta has been working at outside linebacker during some of the organized team activities and worked with the first-team defense during the workout Wednesday, June 5. Skuta worked at inside linebacker when he was with the Cincinnati Bengals. | | Jun 06, 03:13 PM |
San Francisco 49ers LB Darius Fleming's agent said Fleming has received reps at inside linebacker during organized team activities. | | Jun 04, 04:13 PM |
Updating a previous report, the San Francisco 49ers signed WR Kassim Osgood to a one-year contract Tuesday, June 4. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. | | Jun 04, 03:13 PM |
The San Francisco 49ers signed WR Kassim Osgood (Lions) Tuesday, June 4. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Fantasy Impact: He'll compete for a roster spot. | | Jun 03, 10:54 AM |
San Francisco 49ers rookie RB Marcus Lattimore has spoken with 49ers RB Frank Gore about recovering from a major knee injury. Like Lattimore, Gore also endured two major knee reconstructions while in college. As previously reported, Lattimore understands the team will take caution toward his recovery pace, but he hopes to play this fall. | | May 31, 07:42 PM |
San Francisco 49ers RB Kendall Hunter (Achilles') will be eight months removed from a torn left Achilles' tendon reconstruction when the team opens training camp July 24. He says he can do everything the coaching staff asks of him. Hunter has been cutting during organized team activities.
Fantasy Impact: Sounds like Hunter should be just fine for the start of the season. | | May 31, 07:32 PM |
San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James is more comfortable with the offense and the special teams return game. 'I'm completely comfortable,' James said. 'Last year, I wasn't even here and I didn't get to do any of this stuff. It's kind of new for me, too. I've been in the offense for a year. I picked it up pretty fast, to my knowledge. Now it's kind of second nature to me.' When asked about fielding punts, 'You just got to see the ball,' James said. 'Judging the ball is key. Even though you have more wind in Candlestick, it's really just judging the ball, knowing where it's going to land and studying the nose.'
Fantasy Impact: James could play a much bigger role in the offense this year. He is a playmaker. | | May 29, 02:33 PM |
San Francisco 49ers WR Anquan Boldin said he already feels comfortable in the offense after participating in organized team activities Tuesday, May 28. Boldin said he's run many of the same routes and plays in the team's complicated version of the West Coast offense, and he's just working on the terminology now. QB Colin Kaepernick has already enjoyed throwing to Boldin and has made him his first read often. 'I guess I'm looked at as being able to step in right now and make plays,' Boldin said. 'And that's what I want to bring. I want Kaep to be comfortable. I want the other quarterbacks to be comfortable enough to, even if it doesn't look like I'm open, just give me a chance. I'll make a play for you.' |
