Team Grade:
San Francisco 49ers
Quarterbacks: Running Backs:
Wide Receivers: Tight Ends:
Defense: Kickers:

San Francisco has one of the best teams in all of football. Their defense is top five and the offense is getting better and better. They are the complete package. The defense can win games all by themselves. And the offense this season could be good enough to win some games if the defense has some stumbles. For us, the 49ers are the favorite to win the NFC and make another appearance in the Super Bowl.
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick didn't quite live up to the hype last season but did some good things along the way. He is setup for much better things this season. He can take his game to a new level, getting some weapons back healthy and some more options in the passing game to help elevate his game. Kaepernick has the skillset and surrounding talent to be a top fantasy quarterback. Plus, he should get plenty of chances offensively because the 49ers' defense will shut down plenty of opponents.
Running back Frank Gore is another aging back that probably has played his best years. He remains the starter but has plenty of young talent pushing him for playing time. He still has touchdown and some yardage potential but his touches should be down compared to past years. It wouldn't even be a shock if Gore lost his starting job before the end of the season. There are a lot of top, young backs on this roster that are the future at the position for the 49ers.

Team Notes

Jul 30, 04:43 PM San Francisco 49ers LB Aldon Smith is not participating in practice Wednesday, July 30, as he attends a hearing at the Los Angeles City Attorney's office regarding an April arrest at the Los Angeles International Airport. No charges were filed in that incident.
Jul 30, 03:03 PM San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James (elbow) will wear a brace on his dislocated elbow and should be ready for the start of the regular season, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh.
Jul 30, 12:13 PM San Francisco 49ers OG Joe Looney has been working with the first-team offense at guard in place of OG Alex Boone and has looked good during practices.
Jul 29, 09:53 PM San Francisco 49ers CB Chris Culliver (knee), CB Tramaine Brock (knee) and DE Ray McDonald (leg) did not practice Tuesday, July 29.
Jul 29, 06:53 PM San Francisco 49ers LB Ahmad Brooks restructured his contract to give the team $2 million more in cap space, according to a source.
Jul 29, 11:43 AM Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers RB Alfonso Smith signed a one-year deal. The financial terms were not disclosed.
Jul 29, 10:43 AM The San Francisco 49ers signed free-agent RB Alfonso Smith (Cardinals) to an undisclosed deal and waived/injured OT Fou Fonoti (undisclosed).

Fantasy Impact: He'll serve a depth role with the team. Don't expect much.
Jul 28, 11:33 PM San Francisco 49ers RB Marcus Lattimore (knee) has not been cleared to practice yet due to lingering concerns about his surgically repaired right knee. However, he appears close to joining his teammates.
Jul 28, 11:33 PM The San Francisco 49ers are expected to announce the signing of free-agent RB Alfonso Smith (Cardinals) Tuesday, July 29. The team needs healthy reinforcements with RBs Kendall Hunter (knee) likely out for the season, and RB LaMichael James (elbow) out at least a month.
Jul 28, 05:53 PM The San Francisco 49ers will try to sign WR Michael Crabtree and OG Mike Iupati to contract extensions before they become unrestricted free agents next offseason, according to general manager Trent Baalke. The team is not believed to be close to a deal with either player at this point.
Jul 28, 12:53 PM San Francisco 49ers RB Frank Gore is unlikely to play in the preseason this year. RBs Carlos Hyde and Jewel Hampton have both looked good so far during training camp. The injuries to RBs Kendall Hunter (knee) and LaMichael James (elbow) have left the team thin at the running back position. RB Marcus Lattimore isn't practicing yet due to physical limitations and not the mental side of his recovery from a significant knee injury in college.
Jul 28, 04:02 AM The San Francisco 49ers plan to re-sign RG Mike Iupati at some point. Originally the team thought it would not be able to keep him due to a higher salary, but the 49ers have realized they can handle the finances.
Jul 27, 08:32 PM Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James (elbow) likely will miss the entire preseason but should be ready for the start of the regular season.

Fantasy Impact: His roster spot could be in jeopardy some going forward. He was kind of on thin ice to begin with.
Jul 27, 07:52 PM San Francisco 49ers RB LaMichael James (elbow) suffered a dislocated elbow Sunday, July 27.
Jul 27, 03:42 PM San Francisco 49ers LB Aaron Lynch (hamstring) has been removed from the physically unable to perform list and been cleared to resume practicing.
Jul 27, 03:42 PM San Francisco 49ers C Marcus Martin (ankle) has been activated from the non-football injury list and been cleared to resume practicing.
