Outlook

San Francisco has one of the best teams in all of football. Their defense is top five and the offense is getting better and better. They are the complete package. The defense can win games all by themselves. And the offense this season could be good enough to win some games if the defense has some stumbles. For us, the 49ers are the favorite to win the NFC and make another appearance in the Super Bowl.
FANTASY BREAKOUT
Quarterback Colin Kaepernick didn't quite live up to the hype last season but did some good things along the way. He is setup for much better things this season. He can take his game to a new level, getting some weapons back healthy and some more options in the passing game to help elevate his game. Kaepernick has the skillset and surrounding talent to be a top fantasy quarterback. Plus, he should get plenty of chances offensively because the 49ers' defense will shut down plenty of opponents.
FANTASY DUD
Running back Frank Gore is another aging back that probably has played his best years. He remains the starter but has plenty of young talent pushing him for playing time. He still has touchdown and some yardage potential but his touches should be down compared to past years. It wouldn't even be a shock if Gore lost his starting job before the end of the season. There are a lot of top, young backs on this roster that are the future at the position for the 49ers.

Team Notes

Oct 22, 01:33 PM San Francisco 49ers RB Marcus Lattimore (knee) will be cleared to practice from the Non-Football Injury list following the team's Week 8 bye. The team plans to activate him to their 53-man roster for the first time in his career. Lattimore has been working his way back from a gruesome right knee injury while in college in October of 2012. He is now weighing 220 pounds after reporting to training camp at 225 pounds, and he thinks he has added quickness.
Oct 20, 06:53 PM San Francisco 49ers C Daniel Kilgore (leg) will miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken bone in his left leg during the team's Week 7 game. C Marcus Martin is expected to take over the starting center role.
Oct 19, 10:43 PM San Francisco 49ers CB Chris Cook (hamstring) left the Week 7 game against the Denver Broncos in the third quarter due to a hamstring injury. His return is questionable.
Oct 19, 10:43 PM San Francisco 49ers C Daniel Kilgore (knee) left the Week 7 game against the Denver Broncos in the third quarter due to an apparent serious left knee injury. C Dillon Farrell replaced him.
Oct 19, 09:22 PM San Francisco 49ers LB Aldon Smith was given a nine-game suspension for multiple violations of league policies before the season began. According to multiple sources, there's a chance the suspension could be lifted a game or two early.
Oct 19, 07:32 PM The San Francisco 49ers have declared CB Chris Culliver, DL Cornellius Carradine, SS Jimmie Ward, C Marcus Martin, OG Mike Iupati, LB Patrick Willis, WR Quinton Patton inactive for Week 7.
Oct 17, 06:32 PM San Francisco 49ers LB Patrick Willis (toe) has been ruled out for Week 7 against the Denver Broncos. He was wearing a walking boot Friday, Oct. 17. LB Chris Borland is set to start in place of Willis.
Oct 17, 06:32 PM San Francisco 49ers WR Stevie Johnson (hip) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 17, and is probable for Week 7 against the Denver Broncos.

Oct 17, 06:22 PM San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis (back) practiced in full Friday, Oct. 17, and is probable for Week 7 against the Denver Broncos.
Oct 17, 06:02 PM San Francisco 49ers LB Patrick Willis (toe), who is dealing with a strained toe, is hoping to return after the team's bye week against the St. Louis Rams Nov. 2.

Oct 16, 08:42 PM San Francisco 49ers TE Vernon Davis (back) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 16.
Oct 16, 12:22 PM San Francisco 49ers LB Chris Borland is expected to start at inside linebacker in Week 7 because LB Patrick Willis (toe) is expected to miss the game.
Oct 15, 08:33 PM Updating a previous report, San Francisco 49ers LB Patrick Willis (toe) missed practice Wednesday, Oct. 15, due to a toe injury suffered in the Week 6 game against the St. Louis Rams Monday, Oct. 13. When asked whether Willis had a sprained toe, head coach Jim Harbaugh said, 'It's nothing to characterize. We'll evaluate. It's day to day.'
