Defense: Kickers:

Outlook

The Titans finished 7-9 last season, so things weren't all the bad with the team. The defense played better than the last few seasons, which helped matters for the team. The offense still was very inconsistent, though, and needs to be much better this season if the Titans hope to finish .500 or better. Much of the offense depends on Jake Locker. Will Locker finally take that step forward this season? If he is, this is the season with quarterback guru Whisenhunt at the helm. We aren't completely sold on Locker, meaning a season similar to last year seems likely for the Titans.
FANTASY BREAKOUT
Receiver Justin Hunter had a quiet rookie season in a reserve role but did have a couple big games, showing his potential. He'll get his shot for a much bigger role this season. Hunter is a top big-play threat in this offense with a ton of talent. He probably is the most talented receiver on the roster. New coach Ken Whisenhunt will find ways to get Hunter involved in the offense and reach his potential. He has a real shot to post big numbers this season.
FANTASY DUD
Running back Shonn Greene was supposed to split work with rookie Bishop Sankey this season but Greene had offseason knee surgery, clouding his status going forward. He missed a lot of offseason workouts, giving Sankey a shot to run away with the running back job. We just don't see Greene playing a big role in the offense this season. Sankey is a much more explosive back with more potential for big things. Greene will get sporadic work in a reserve role.

Team Notes

Mar 24, 01:12 PM Oregon QB Marcus Mariota is a realistic option for the Tennessee Titans with the second overall selection in this year's NFL Draft, and head coach Ken Whisenhunt is impressed enough with Mariota that he would feel confident with him as the team's starting quarterback over QB Zach Mettenberger right off the bat in 2015. 'If we pick him at No. 2, you definitely think he can be the Day 1 starter,' Whisenhunt said. 'He was impressive. ... Just the short time we spent with him on the board, he was very good.' Whisenhunt dismissed the notion that he needs a pocket-based quarterback in his offense to succeed. Whisenhunt could also be trying to generate interest in the No. 2 pick if the Titans would want to trade out of it.
