Palmer had one of his better statistical seasons in recent years. He threw for nearly 4,000 yards (3,970) and had 26 touchdowns, which was the fourth highest total of his career. He attempted a career-high 586 passes last year. The Bengals were playing behind a lot, though, which lead to his increased pass attempts. A more balanced offensive approach is expected this season. And the Bengals should go with younger options at receiver. This probably isn't a bad thing, though, as Palmer played well when Andre Caldwell and Jerome Simpson started the last two games of the season at receiver. Palmer had five touchdowns passes and threw for 574 yards his last two games. Even with all that said, Palmer struggled at times last year. He had 20 interceptions and threw for less than 200 yards five times. Palmer still doesn't look to be over this elbow issues. His ball doesn't have the same velocity. Palmer remains accurate and does well on short to intermediate throws. The Bengals claim to be committed to Palmer as their starter for 2011, but nothing is certain if he gets off to a slow start.

| All fantasy teams care about are the numbers, so Palmer isn't a bad option in that regard. The younger receivers could actually help Palmer, who seemed to gel with them late last year. He isn't a No. 1 fantasy quarterback, but a more than capable backup for fantasy teams worthy of some spot starts. A season with around 3,700 yards and 25 scores seems about right for Palmer. |

| Oakland Raiders head coach Hue Jackson said QB Carson Palmer will benefit from having an entire offseason of work with teammates. Jackson feels there should not be any concerns over Palmer's prior arm issues moving forward. 'I think, obviously, he has some strong characteristics throwing the ball. I mean, he's proven that. I think he's disproved all the issues with his arm. I don't think anybody can bring those subjects up anymore,' Jackson said. 'I think that Carson needs a strong offseason, with his teammates, with the players, training camp. And then let's see what he can be then.' |

Palmer said the team has to treat this week as just another game. 'I don't think you make too big of a deal of it,' Palmer said. 'It's another game. All games are important, all games we need to win.
