Running Back Rank: #26 Overall: #49
Johnson missed four games in the middle of the season because of a knee injury, which obviously hurt his stats. And the Chiefs went to spread offense late in the year, limiting Johnson at time. He had just three 100-yard games all season and had 20 or more carries just once his last seven games. Johnson turns 30 during the season, so he is nearing the running back wall, especially with all the carries he has under his belt. Johnson is a powerful back but lacks a little speed at this point of his career. He can still churn out the tough yards between the tackles, though.

Once the top fantasy player in the game, Johnson is more of a No. 2 back for fantasy teams. He still has a little potential, especially for TDs but his yardage numbers won't be what they once were a few years back. Don't totally count him out, especially if you consider he has played just two full seasons. He could have a little more life left than your usual 30 year old back. |

ESPN.com reports fans of the Kansas City Chiefs have started an online petition asking general manager Scott Pioli to deactivate RB Larry Johnson so that he cannot surpass former NFL RB Priest Holmes for the team's all-time rushing record. Johnson is just 75 yards shy of the record. 'We are asking you, as fans of this team, this organization, and of the pride that this city has in the Chiefs, please deactivate Larry Johnson. Please do not let his name sit atop the all-time rushing leaders in Kansas City Chiefs history,' the petition says. 'He has never represented anything close to the values that we have for our Chiefs and it would be another dagger to the fans that continue to support this proud franchise.'

Kent Babb, of The Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Chiefs have considered releasing RB Larry Johnson, according to an industry source. However, the team is cautious of the precedent releasing Johnson might set. The team does not want to send a message that if a player wants out of Kansas City, all he would have to do is speak out or act up to get his way. The team is keeping a close eye on Johnson and how he reacts to his suspension, according to the source.
Fantasy Impact: Even if he sticks with the Chiefs, we don't see him playing a role with the team the rest of the season.

The Associated Press reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson's agent Peter Schaffer said nothing has been signed in regards to an agreement between Johnson and the Chiefs to reduce his suspension in half, saving him more than $300,000. 'We've been working hard at it since Thursday,' Schaffer said. 'We think we have a positive resolution and we'll be able to move forward in the right direction.' The two-week suspension would have cost Johnson about $630,000. He may still face punishment from the NFL, too.

ESPN.com reports the Kansas City Chiefs could be checking to see whether RB Larry Johnson violated contract provisions that would allow the Chiefs to cut him with reduced financial obligation after Johnson's use of a gay slur. Last spring, an arbitrator ruled that the Chiefs could release the running back and not owe him $3.5 million in guaranteed money because he had violated contract conditions by pleading guilty to disturbing the peace in another incident. The issue became moot when the team elected not to cut him.
Fantasy Impact: Anyway you look at it, it seems Johnson is done in Kansas City.

Fantasy Impact: This could be the end of Johnson in Kansas City. Look or Jamaal Charles to get most of the work at running back in the coming weeks. He is worth grabbing, but don't expect huge numbers.

Adam Teicher, of The Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson is fifth among running backs with 93 carries, but ranks 26th in the league in rushing yardage. His 2.4 yards-per-carry average is the lowest among the league's top 50 rushers. Head coach Todd Haley, however, is not ready to make a change at the position, saying Johnson's issues may be part of a larger offensive problem. 'The kid ran hard,' Haley said. 'He stuck it in there. He needs a little help, too.' The offensive line has been poor, and hasn't created significant running space for Johnson.
Fantasy Impact: Johnson has been a bust, which isn't a surprise considering his team and age.
