SUMMARY
Quarterback Rank: #36
Overall: #213

After a breakout year in '07, Anderson had a year to forget last year. He eventually found his way to the bench, getting replaced by Brady Quinn. Anderson also partially tore his MCL, which ended his season early. Before getting hurt, Anderson completed just 50 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and eight interceptions. Anderson continues to struggle with his accuracy and decision making. He has a big arm, though, and throws a good deep ball. He'll be in a competition with Quinn for the starter's job next season in Cleveland. And the Browns have a strong offensive line and some talented receivers.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
His knee injury won't be a factor, but Quinn is a concern. Anderson isn't guaranteed the starting job even with a gaudy contract. He has potential if he wins the starting job, but more so as a spot starter than an every-week option for fantasy teams. Don't reach too soon for Anderson, but he is worth a late-round grab as a sleeper because of his upside. Remember, he carried fantasy teams in '07
CBSSports.com reports Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini said QB Brett Ratliff will not get a chance to start at quarterback, even though QBs Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn have both struggled this season.

ESPN.com reports Cleveland Browns QB Derek Anderson was replaced by QB Brady Quinn with roughly three minutes left in Week 8. Head coach Eric Mangini would not say who his starting quarterback will be moving forward. 'We'll look at it,' Mangini said. 'We'll look at every single position.'
Fantasy Impact: Anderson has been horrible, but Quinn wasn't very good starting earlier in the season. Who knows what they'll do next?

Tom Withers, of The Associated Press, reports Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini has no plans to bench QB Derek Anderson in favor of QB Brady Quinn. Anderson has completed just 23 of 70 passes in the last three games.
Fantasy Impact: Mangini must really dislike Quinn.

The Associated Press reports Cleveland Browns QB Derek Anderson was 12-for-29 for 99 yards with an interception Week 7 against the Green Bay Packers.
Fantasy Impact: Anderson has played poorly of late, but continues to keep his starting job.

James Walker, of ESPN.com, reports Cleveland Browns head coach Eric Mangini has notified QBs Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson who will start in Week 1, but the team has not revealed the starter publicly. The Browns' coaching staff didn't make a formal announcement to the rest of team, but Mangini said it will be pretty easy for the rest of the team to figure out who the starter is during practice this week.
Fantasy Impact: Why keep it a mystery to everyone, including the team? Strange stuff. Quinn still seems the odds on favorite to start.
