SUMMARY
Running Back Rank: #17
Overall: #24

Grant finished strong, making up for an otherwise disappointing season. He managed to break the 1,000-yard mark, but scored just five touchdowns and averaged an unimpressive 3.9 yards per carry. The Packers have him locked up for the next few seasons, though, so Grant is likely to remain their No. 1 back. The difference between last season and his rookie year was his ability to break a big play. Grant didn't display great speed last season. He is a good between the tackles runner, though, and has enough speed to break some plays to the outside. The Packers are a pass-first team, but their offensive is solid, which should give Grant some goal-line chances.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Coming off a disappointing season, Grant is a good buy-low candidate. He still ran for 1,000 yards, so all is not lost with him. Grant just needs to improve his TD totals, which is possible in the Packers offense. He is worth grabbing as a No. 2 back in the fourth or so round of your draft. He has some upside.
The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant had 27 carries for 148 yards with a touchdown Week 7.
Fantasy Impact: Grant had his first big rushing game of the season. He still hasn't been great, but getting enough consistent yards because of his big amount of weekly touches.

Rob Demovsky, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports the Green Bay Packers appear committed to sticking with RB Ryan Grant as their starting running back, even though he is averaging just 3.8 yards per carry this season.
Fantasy Impact: They don't have any other viable options. Grant is producing decent overall numbers for fantasy teams, though.

The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant had 99 yards off of 26 carries and a five-yard reception Week 3.

Lori Nickel, of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant would spend most days during the offseason running up and down the steps of Lambeau Field for 45 minutes. Grant said he needed to work on his explosion this year. 'Because the explosion between the first 7 yards to 10 yards in our offense is what makes the big plays,' Grant noted. Grant said the team's offensive line has also improved from the mental errors they made a year ago, which should help him. Grant also worked with sleds and drill work, as he tried to improve his ability to stop, make a cut and switch direction.

Jason Wilde, of the Wisconsin State Journal, reports Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant plans on receiving 20 to 25 carries per game this season.
Fantasy Impact: Nothing is certain, but Grant is healthy, which is a positive. He could finish with better numbers than last season.

Pete Dougherty, of the Green Bay Press-Gazette, reports Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant said the hamstring injury that bothered him throughout last season has not been a factor during the offseason and training camp.
Fantasy Impact: This is good news, but the Packers remain a pass-first team so don't expect a huge jump in production from Grant this season.

Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant carried the football six times for 28 yards, including a touchdown run Saturday, Aug. 15, against the Cleveland Browns.
Fantasy Impact: Grant had a decent start to his season. It was encouraging to see him find the end zone after scoring just five times all last season.

Kevin Seifert, of ESPN.com, reports Green Bay Packers general manager Ted Thompson said although the team likes the idea of having a 1-2 punch at the running back position with RBs Ryan Grant and Brandon Jackson, the team envisions Grant being the main guy. 'I think you need multiple guys, and we think we have some guys that can step in and play. We've put a lot of burden on Ryan the last couple of years, and I think in an ideal situation we would have some guys step in and take some of those reps, but we feel like Ryan will be our guy.'
Fantasy Impact: Not what fantasy players want to hear, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see Jackson play a much bigger role this season. He has more big-play ability.

Lori Nickel, of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant said the hamstring injury he had at the start of the 2008 season hampered what he was able to do. This year he wants to break long-distance runs. He had a 57-yard run in the season opener, but failed to rush for longer than 22 yards on a play the rest of the way. 'The explosion on the big run is a big thing for me and I'm getting that back. I'm able to do that now because my legs are strong. I can do whatever I want, training-wise,' Grant said.

The Associated Press reports Green Bay Packers RB Ryan Grant had 21 carries for 56 yards and three receptions for 32 receiving yards during the team's Week 15 game.
