SUMMARY
Quarterback Rank: #41
Overall: #236

Clemens got in just a couple games, playing behind Brett Favre last season. But he gets a chance to start this season with Favre gone. He'll compete with rookie Mark Sanchez for the job. Clemens has some starting experience, but hasn't excelled in a starting role just yet. He knows the Jets offense, though, and has the talent to be a solid starter. Clemens is fairly mobile and has a decent arm with a quick release. He also is very cerebral, which will help his development as a starter.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Favre posted some solid numbers in a starting role in the Jets offense, so Clemens has some potential. But Sanchez is the man in New York and should be the starter at some point this season even if he doesn't win the job in training camp. Because of this, Clemens isn't much of a fantasy options this season. He might have some value as a No. 2 early in the season, but that is about it.

New York Jets QB Kellen Clemens started the team's preseason game Friday, Aug. 14, against the St. Louis Rams. He hit 4 of 4 passes for 24 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions, but did fumble once. He led the team to a field goal. Rookie Mark Sanchez saw one drive of action, hitting 3 of 4 passes for 88 yards, including a 48-yard pass to WR David Clowney, and led the team to a touchdown drive.
Fantasy Impact: Give Sanchez the early lead in the race to start.

Dave Hutchinson, of The Star-Ledger, reports New York Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer told QB Mark Sanchez he will begin alternating reps with QB Kellen Clemens with the first-string offense. Sanchez worked with the starters first during practice Saturday, Aug. 8. Sanchez hit 10 of 19 passes, with two touchdowns and one interception. His tempo with the offense was crisp and he got the team in and out of the huddle quickly. Clemens will work with the starters first in the afternoon workout. During the morning, he hit four of 12 passes and was intercepted once. He almost was picked off two other times. Head coach Rex Ryan said he feels Sanchez has taken a step forward in the last few practices. 'He's confident. He's moving around and he's not moving around like a deer in head lights. He's poised. He can make all of the throws. He's taking a step forward,' Ryan said of the team's first-round pick.
Fantasy Impact: Sounds like Sanchez is making up some ground. Stay tuned.
