Summary

Quarterback Rank: #47
Overall: #265

Whitehurst got a couple starts because of injury last season but once again did little with those chances. He completed just 48 percent of his passes in three games and had one touchdown with an interception. He hasn't shown much in two seasons with the Seahawks, likely missing out on his chance to be an every-week player. He completed 54 percent of his passes with four touchdowns and four interceptions in nine games with the Seahawks. Whitehurst continues to struggle reading defenses and making the proper throw on time. He just hasn't progressed as expected, which isn't a good sign for his future at age 30 (when the season starts). Whitehurst brings some intangibles to the table, though. He has a strong arm, can make all the throws and will make plays on the run. He still has a slow delivery, though, and needs more seasoning. He heads back to the team he started his career with this season, the Chargers, and will serve as their top backup.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Whitehurst is about out of time to be a starter in this league. He has done very little to show he can be a dependable fantasy option in a starting role. So even if pressed into action, we wouldn't bother. He is a mess when in the game.

Notes

Seattle Seahawks QB Charlie Whitehurst started in the team's Week 8 game.
Fantasy Impact: He didn't last long. As long as Jackson is healthy, he is their starter. We still aren't sure why Whitehurst started if Jackson was healthy enough to play.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday, Oct. 26, that the decision on the starting quarterback between QBs Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) and Charlie Whitehurst might be a game-time decision. 'We just need to steal as much time as we can before we extend him, so that's how we'll go about it,' Carroll said. '(Jackson) will be ready to go in terms of playing the mental side of it by the end of this week. We just need to see physically if he can handle it.'
Fantasy Impact: The Seahawks will do all they can to get Jackson on the field.
