Walker posted his usual numbers as a backup tight end for the 49ers, catching 19 passes for 198 yards. He got about all his chances early in the season, though, failing to catch a pass the last seven games. In the last five seasons, Walker averages 20 receptions for 218 yards and a touchdown. As long as Vernon Davis is around, Walker isn't likely to have a huge role in the offense. Walker is a well built tight end with decent speed. Once he gets the ball, he is tough to bring down at around 240 pounds. Walker will struggle at times with dropped passes.

FANTASY OUTLOOK

The 49ers have an offense that utilizes the tight end, so Walker will get some chances. But it doesn't seem likely he'll do a whole lot better than recent seasons. He has some value as a No. 3 tight end, but that is about it.

Tennessee Titans TE Delanie Walker said he expects to be a part of the passing game this season because he will be given more of an opportunity to catch passes than he received when he was with the San Francisco 49ers. Walker said he understands he has to become a more reliable target since he dropped nine passes last season. He said he would like to catch at least 70 passes in 2013.
Fantasy Impact: He isn't going to get enough chances to catch 70 passes.

Fantasy Impact: This is a good signing for the Titans, getting a good blocking tight end that can stretch the field.

The Philadelphia Eagles could pursue free-agent TE Delanie Walker (49ers), as he might fit in well with the new offense of head coach Chip Kelly since Walker can line up as a fullback, H-Back and tight end. He did have eight drops, however, in 39 targets, so that is a definite drawback.

Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski likes to use his tight ends in the offense, and the only option on the roster right now is TE Jordan Cameron. The team wants more depth at the position. Some potential targets might be impending free-agent TEs Dustin Keller (Jets), Fred Davis (Redskins) (Achilles') or Delanie Walker (49ers).

San Francisco 49ers TE Delanie Walker said he and WR A.J. Jenkins working with the JUGs machine during practice this week to improve their catching abilities. Walker dropped two passes in the team's Divisional Round playoff game while Jenkins dropped his only target this season. 'Every time defense was up (in practice), I run to the JUGs machine,' Walker said. 'I even brought A.J. with me because he's going to be a key factor this year, I mean, in this game -- making sure he's catching balls with me. Really, that's what we need. We need guys to make plays when they come to them. I consider me one of the playmakers here.'

San Francisco 49ers TE Delanie Walker had three receptions for a game-high 81 yards in the Week 12 game against the New Orleans Saints. WR Mario Manningham chipped in with five receptions and 69 yards to lead the team's wideouts. FB Bruce Miller had three grabs and 37 yards. WR Michael Crabtree finished with three catches and 26 yards.
