SUMMARY
Quarterback Rank: #28
Overall: #123

Russell had an encouraging finish to his season. He had two touchdowns in each of the last three games and 235-plus passing yards in two of those three games. He remains far from polished, but is flashing his potential and showing some consistency. He'll continue to have his ups and downs as starter, but has the upside to do very good things. Russell is a top athlete. He has a great arm, can make plays on the run, but needs to improve his accuracy. The Raiders are a run-first team with three top backs on their roster, but Russell could get more and more chances as the team gets some confidence in him.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Don't expect a huge breakout season, but he can get around 20 touchdowns and 3,000-passing yards. He is worth a late-round pick as a No. 2 or 3 fantasy quarterback. Don't count on him as a starter just yet.
Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable said QB JaMarcus Russell misread consecutive plays when receivers were open, which lead Cable to bench Russell.

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Kansas City Chiefs SS Mike Brown said Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell usually only reads one side of the field, which makes it easier for a defense. 'Obviously, he's been struggling a little bit. He's turned the ball over more than any quarterback in the league. That's something that we talked about. And usually he only looks at one side of the field. He doesn't read the whole field,' Brown said.

Aaron Wilson, of the National Football Post, reports Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell said he is not sure why he was benched in Week 10. 'I really can't explain it. I really don't know what to say about it, but that was his decision, and just move on from it,' Russell said. Russell has completed only 47.1 percent of his passes this season and has thrown two touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Fantasy Impact: Russell just doesn't seem to get it. He rarely takes the blame for his play even though he has been awful this season.

CBSSports.com reports Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell was benched Week 10 for the second time this season. QB Bruce Gradkowski replaced Russell in the game.
Fantasy Impact: Not a surprise. Russell continues to disappoint.
Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell completed just two passes in eight attempts to wide receivers for 16 yards in Week 8.
Fantasy Impact: Russell is a mess. He shouldn't be starting right now, but the Raiders don't have much else to go with.

Paul Gutierrez, of The Sacramento Bee, reports Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell started to show some accountability last week, as opposed to previous post game acts when he refused to take full responsibility for interceptions, fumbles and other miscues. Russell started showing up earlier for team workouts during the week.

David White, of the San Francisco Chronicle, reports Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell fumbled the first snap of the game during Week 7 in part because he did not have the offense lined up in the right formation. Head coach Tom Cable called for a 'four vertical' pass play from the Raiders' 10-yard line, thinking his aggressive call would catch the New York Jets by surprise. Russell, however, did not get the offense lined up in the right formation, then ignored the checkdown option while holding the ball too long. His ensuing sack and lost fumble were a predictable result. 'You wouldn't expect to have that kind of mental error on the first play of the game,' Cable said.

Jarrett Bell, of USA Today, reports Oakland Raiders managing general partner Al Davis has stressed patience with QB JaMarcus Russell. Davis said Russell still needs more time before he can fulfill his potential, however he also conceded that Russell must play better this season. 'JaMarcus, he's got to do better,' Davis said. 'Forget the cast around him. He knows it. But we've got to fight through it with him.'

Jerry McDonald, of ANG Newspapers, reports Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell has completed seven of 33 passes to wide receivers through two weeks.

Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell went 12-for-18 for 153 yards in the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 29.
Fantasy Impact: Russell had his best game of the preseason. He seems to be making some strides in recent weeks.
