SUMMARY
Quarterback Rank: #58
Overall: #309

Thigpen was the No. 3 in Miami last season but actually found his way into the starting lineup because of injury. Thigpen played five games, throwing for 435 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He was so-so last season, making some mistakes but also making some big plays in the passing game. Thigpen stormed onto the scene with the Chiefs in 2008, getting a chance to start in their new spread offense. Thigpen played well, scoring 21 total touchdowns to 12 interceptions. But he hasn't done much since then. He'll battle for a backup job this season. Thigpen has a pro arm, but needs to improve his accuracy and decision making a little. He is good on his feet and can make throws on the run. He heads to Buffalo this season, reuniting with his former offensive coordinator in Kansas City, Chan Gailey. He should serve as the top backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick and could even push him for playing time if all goes well for him.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Thigpen might be worth a look if he happens to get some playing time. He has produced big numbers at times and has a knack for finding the end zone. He will turn the ball over a little more than you would like, though.
Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey said he told QB Tyler Thigpen before he signed with the team that QB Ryan Fitzpatrick is the starting quarterback and that Thigpen would not have any opportunity to compete for the starting job this season.

Buffalo Bills backup QB Tyler Thigpen worked as the team's No. 2 quarterback during 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 team workouts Thursday, Aug. 4. QB Levi Brown worked with the third-string offense and the team used QB/WR Brad Smith at times, too.
Buffalo Bills QB Tyler Thigpen feels his time with the Miami Dolphins helped him develop as a quarterback. Thigpen said the coaching staff there did a good job helping him with the fundamentals, and he was able to learn a lot on the mental side of the game from QBs Chad Pennington and Chad Henne. He noted being able to learn how those two QBs study game film and prepare for each week was a big positive for him.

Buffalo Bills QB Tyler Thigpen will be reunited with Bills head coach Chan Gailey, who served as Thigpen's offensive coordinator in Kansas City in 2008. Thigpen will be given a chance to compete for the team's starting quarterback job with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick.
Fantasy Impact: He won't win the starter's job but should serve as the top backup. He knows the offense.
The Buffalo Bills have agreed to a three-year deal with free-agent QB Tyler Thigpen (Dolphins). Financial terms were not disclosed. Six teams were believed to be interested in Thigpen.

Miami Dolphins impending free-agent QB Tyler Thigpen's agent, Joel Turner, said Thigpen is open to re-signing with the Dolphins. Turner said Thigpen feels comfortable in Miami and would like to compete for the starting job.

The Miami Dolphins likely will not re-sign impending free-agent QB Tyler Thigpen if he hits the free agent market. The team is not expected to make a hard push to sign him during the time teams can talk with their own free agents.

Miami Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland said that the team will look to add a quarterback even if impending free-agent QB Tyler Thigpen re-signs with the team.
Fantasy Impact: Guess that isn't a huge vote of confidence for Thigpen to be the top backup in Miami this season.
