SUMMARY
Running Back Rank: #42
Overall: #148

Torain was one of the few positives in the Redskins' offense last season. He missed a lot of time because of injury, but when healthy, he produced. Torain had three 100-yard games and ran for nearly 750 yards despite missing six games. He finished the season with 867 yards and six touchdowns, averaging 87 total yards per game. Torain should get a chance to be the No. 1 back in Washington this season, but will have some competition from a couple rookies. Torain is a big back that runs with power and has enough speed to break plays to the outside. He is a good combination of power and speed. Injuries have dogged his career to date, though, which could hurt his chances to earn the full-time starter's gig.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Torain is an injury risk, but certainly has upside after producing some big weeks last season. And you know Mike Shanahan has a history of making obscure backs into something special, which is another reason to take a chance on Torain. But with that said, Torain also has some risk. He gets hurt and isn't a sure thing to start with some promising rookies pushing for playing time. If he starts, though, Torain can have a 1,000-yard season and get near double-digit scores. Consider Torain a risk/reward pick as a No. 3 back.
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan explained the decision to released RB Ryan Torain Tuesday, Dec. 27. 'What you look for is consistency at every position,' Shanahan said. 'The people that are consistent get more opportunities. If you're not consistent, you don't get as many opportunities to show us what you can do. But you mentioned Ryan had a big game - that was one of the reasons he's had a chance to get some reps. I think (RB Roy Helu Jr.) has taken advantage of those opportunities more than Ryan has. (RB Evan Royster) obviously this week against a pretty good defensive front - took advantage of an opportunity.'

The Washington Redskins released RB Ryan Torain Tuesday, Dec. 27, according to a person with knowledge of the situation. The team promoted WR Aldrick Robinson from the practice squad in a corresponding move.
Fantasy Impact: Torain was the starter last season. He sure fell from grace in a hurry. He might get picked up shortly by a playoff team looking for running back help.

Washington Redskins RB Ryan Torain's time with the team is nearing an end. He was inactive last week and did not play in the previous two games. Torain misses too many holes and is only adequate on passing downs.
Fantasy Impact: He was once expected to start this season but has quickly fallen down the depth charts. He'll get a chance with another team but he'll need to turn it around in a hurry.

Torian is inactive for the Week 14 game.
Washington Redskins rookie RB Roy Helu Jr. is starting against the San Francisco 49ers during Week 9, he replaces RB Ryan Torain.

Washington Redskins RB Ryan Torain had a poor stat line in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills, posting 14 yards on eight carries. The lack of production can mostly be attributed to poor run blocking by the offensive line, as three or more defenders were on the Redskins side of the line on six of his eight rushing attempts.
Fantasy Impact: The rushing game is a mess right now. We wouldn't bother with any Redskins' back until they start doing something on the field.

Washington Redskins RB Ryan Torain carried eight times for just 14 yards in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills. He also had a six-yard receptions. Torain did nothing about a Bills rush defense which entered play ranked 30th in the NFL, allowing 135.7 yards per game on the ground. RB Roy Helu Jr. didn't have any carries, and he ended up with 20 yards on three receptions.
Fantasy Impact: Torain didn't get much work but did little with his chances. He should continue to get the bulk of the work at running back but is far from a sure thing for fantasy teams.

Washington Redskins RB Ryan Torain is starting at running back in Week 8.

Washington Redskins RB Ryan Torain is the likely starter heading into Week 8 following the injury to RB Tim Hightower (knee) in Week 7.
Fantasy Impact: Torain should be getting the bulk of the chances going forward but is no sure thing based off past history. He is worth owning in all formats, though.

Washington Redskins RB Ryan Torain is expected to see a majority of the carries in Week 7 with RBs Tim Hightower and Roy Helu Jr. also getting carries.
Fantasy Impact: Torain is the back to use in Washington right now but nothing is ever certain with this situation.
