Summary

Quarterback Rank: #68
Overall: #368

Johnson got a start last season because of injury, his first start since 2009. Johnson had a decent start, going 16-of-27 for 229 yards with a touchdown and an interception. He also ran for 45 yards, showing his ability to make plays on the run. Johnson has five starts in four NFL seasons. He has some ability but seems destined for backup duty at this point of his career. Johnson is a very good athlete that does a good job of making plays on the run. He still needs some work on his accuracy and decision making but needs to play in actual games to get better in those areas. Johnson seems to have the tools to be a starter in the NFL but likely is a No. 2 going forward.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
A change of scenery would do Johnson some good. He has some ability and made some plays in the past but you just don't know what he is capable of at this point of his career. Don't bother using a roster spot on him until he starts getting consistent work.

Notes

The St. Petersburg Times reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Johnson will remain the team's starting quarterback, according to head coach Raheem Morris. 'It's Josh's football team right now,' Morris said. 'We'll see Josh Johnson. QB Josh Freeman's got to take advantage of any opportunity when or if the opportunity comes.' Johnson went 26-of-50 for 240 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions in Week 5 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He also rushed five times for 40 yards.
Fantasy Impact: Johnson has little fantasy value even in a starting role.
Jim Flynn, of PewterReport.com, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris said Monday, Oct. 5, he is sticking with QB Josh Johnson in Week 5. Johnson threw for 106 yards, completing 13-of-22 passes with one touchdown and one interception in Week 4. Johnson, however, appeared to be hesitant to throw the ball downfield. 'We called more shots in the second half trying to be aggressive and trying to get the ball to Antonio (Bryant),' Morris said. 'We have to develop our confidence at the quarterback-receiver relationship to take those shots.'
Fantasy Impact: Johnson has about zero fantasy value, though, as long as he is starting.
Joe Henderson, of The Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Johnson said he believes he has a chance to win the starting quarterback job. 'Right now is not when it will be determined. It won't be determined until the end of training camp and the preseason games. I was told I will have a chance to compete for the job, but we'll see in the end. Right now, I don't know so I don't really worry about it. I just take advantage of the opportunities I get because that's all I can control until they announce who's starting,' Johnson said.
Charlie Campbell and Jim Flynn, both of PewterReport.com, report Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Johnson is competing for the starting job at quarterback with QB Luke McCown during voluntary workouts. 'From my understanding we're all competing,' said Johnson. 'If you're on the roster you're competing. Coach [Jeff Jagodzinski] gave all of us our expectations together.
