Wide Receiver Rank: #182 Overall: #571
Morgan had a career high in yards last season but still hasn't enjoyed a breakout season. He continues to post up and down numbers. He had just one 100-yard game last season and had 10 games with fewer than 50-receiving yards. Morgan finished the season with 698 yards and two touchdowns. The positive for him was his big-play ability, averaging an impressive 15.9 yards per reception. He can be a big-play threat in the 49ers offense, an offense that is making strides and getting better. Morgan should continue to start for the 49ers and serve as the No. 3 option in the passing game behind Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis. Morgan has 500-plus yards two straight seasons but just eight touchdowns in three years. Morgan is a big, strong receiver with good athletic ability. He does struggle with some drops at times, but is a top playmaker for a passing game that should show improvement in 2011.

Morgan hasn't emerged as expected, but has some upside for fantasy teams. He can make big plays and is capable of the big game. A career season could be in order with a new coaching regime in place. Morgan could get 60 or so catches for 800 yards and six touchdowns, making him a receiver to consider late in your draft as a reserve option. |

| San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said Monday, Oct. 10, that he went for it on fourth down late in the fourth quarter of a blowout win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to help work on the clock and keep his defense off the field. That fourth-down play was the one where WR Joshua Morgan (ankle) suffered a broken lower right leg, just above the ankle. 'There is no second team on a 46-man roster, offense, defense, and special teams, so if you kick the field goal, you expose the kicker,' Harbaugh said. 'You take a knee, the defense is back on the field and you don't want to put your defense back out there.' |

| San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh said the team isn't ruling out WR Joshua Morgan (leg) for a late-season return or for a potential playoff game. 'That's a hope. We'll have a better idea after today, tomorrow and see where we're at to assess the situation,' Harbaugh said. 'Josh was really coming into his own, catching his stride. I feel bad for him, feel bad for us. That's a tough loss for us.' The team will use WRs Ted Ginn Jr., Michael Crabtree and Kyle Williams in the receiving corps moving forward. TE Delanie Walker could also contribute. |
