SUMMARY
Quarterback Rank: #34
Overall: #207

The Bucs hope Freeman turns out to be their franchise quarterback. He is far from a sure thing, though. Freeman has a ton of talent, but is raw. He needs some seasoning, but the Bucs will give him a shot to start this season. He has some competition, though, in Luke McCown and Byron Leftwich. Freeman has all the tools to be a great NFL quarterback. He has a great arm, can make plays with his feet and has the size and strength to hold up over the course of a season. He needs to improve his decision making and accuracy, though. And he also needs to shore up his footwork a little.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Freeman will have his struggles, but has some upside. He can make big plays because of his arm and speed. He might be worth a gamble as a low-end No. 2 quarterback, but will be a better option in another season or two.
Roy Cummings, of The Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman said he is comfortable with the offense and is ready to start in Week 9. 'I'm ready. I'm comfortable with the offense and comfortable with a lot of the guys I'm throwing to, so I just want to get out there and let it rip,' Freeman said.

Charlie Campbell and Scott Reynolds, of PewterReport.com, report Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman was overweight earlier this year, and he has had conditioning issues dating back to his days in college. Freeman is playing at 270 pounds, but is listed at 248 pounds on the team roster.
Fantasy Impact: Freeman's work ethic is a concern. We are anxious to see how he plays the rest of this season. He has talent, but is raw.

PewterReport.com reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Raheem Morris announced Wednesday, Oct. 28, that rookie QB Josh Freeman is the team's starting quarterback. He will make the first start of his career against the Green Bay Packers in Week 9. QB Josh Johnson will be the backup, with QB Byron Leftwich serving as the third quarterback on the depth chart.
Fantasy Impact: Freeman is not worth using on fantasy teams, but it is good to see the Bucs give the youngster a shot. What do they have to lose?
Charlie Campbell and Jim Flynn, of PewterReport.com, report Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman nearly entered the team's Week 5 game when the score got out of hand. Offensive coordinator Greg Olson said the team did not want the first defense Freeman would face in the league to be the Philadelphia Eagles. The coaches have been pleased with the improvement Freeman has made so far. Freeman said he is prepared if the Buccaneers call on him this season.
Fantasy Impact: It is only a matter of time before Freeman becomes the starter in Tampa this season.
