SUMMARY
Running Back Rank: #66
Overall: #296

Brown improved on his rookie season, but still hasn't reached the level the Colts hoped at this stage of his career. He finished with 702 total yards and two touchdowns in 13 games, missing time again because of injury. Brown has missed eight games his first two seasons. Brown did have a 100-yard game last season and had five games with 50 or more rushing yards, but his numbers were pretty mediocre most of the year. He averaged just 3.9 yards per carry, giving him a career average of 3.8 yards. Brown has good speed and moves in well in space. He still doesn't have ideal size, hurting his chances some as an every-down back. He catches the ball well, though, and seems to have a decent grasp of the Colts offense. Brown should be given more opportunities as the Colts lead back this season, but will have to earn his work.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Brown has obvious upside in a good Colts offense. But he also has plenty of negatives after doing little his first two seasons in the league. He has a chance to improve on last season, though, getting 800 total yards and six or so touchdowns. He is worth consideration as a No. 3 or 4 back because of his upside in a good offense. Brown is a boom or bust pick based on his past.
The Indianapolis Colts rush offense piled up 205 yards on the ground in Week 15, their most since posting 226 yards in a game Sept. 30, 2007, against the Denver Broncos. RB Donald Brown had a huge chunk, gobbling up a career-high 161 yards on the ground. That mark was the 16th-best in franchise history, and most since RB Joseph Addai had 171 yards in 2006 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown rushed for 161 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries against the Tennessee Titans in Week 15.
Fantasy Impact: Brown has become the top back in the Colts' offense. He has surprised but still isn't a great fantasy option because of his erratic play.

Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on 14 carries in Week 12 against the Carolina Panthers.
Fantasy Impact: Brown is the back to use in Indy right now.

Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown rushed for 70 yards on 16 carries against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 9.
Fantasy Impact: Brown got most of the carries after an early fumble by Delone Carter. Brown played well with his chances. He might be earning more work going forward after a few solid showings.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell said RB Donald Brown could receive an increased role in the offense if RB Joseph Addai (hamstring) misses a few weeks.
Fantasy Impact: Delone Carter is the back to own in Indy right now but Brown could get some touches as well.

Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown currently sits third on the team's depth chart at running back behind RBs Joseph Addai and Delone Carter.
Fantasy Impact: It might be only a matter of time before Brown is released. He is falling quickly.
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown was not used in the second half of the team's Week 16 game because the team decided to lean on RBs Dominic Rhodes and Joseph Addai at that point, reports Mike Chappell, of The Indianapolis Star.
Fantasy Impact: You can't trust any of the Colts backs at this point of the season.
Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown rushed just 14 times during a Week 15 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but totaled 129 yards and one touchdown. He also caught one pass for four yards receiving.
Fantasy Impact: It was easily his best game of the season, but Brown remains an iffy fantasy play because of his erratic play all season.

Indianapolis Colts RB Donald Brown (hamstring) participated in practice Friday, Nov. 5, and is not on the injury report for Week 9, reports Phillip B. Wilson, of The Indianapolis Star.
Fantasy Impact: Brown should start and get most of the work at running back for the Colts this week.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell indicated that RB Donald Brown (hamstring) likely will see an increase in playing time in Week 9, reports Phillip B. Wilson, of The Indianapolis Star. Brown's playing time in Week 8 was limited because of his hamstring injury.
Fantasy Impact: The Colts are super thin at running back so Brown will get the bulk of the carries as long as he is healthy enough. He has some upside for Week 9 as a No. 2 back.
