Summary

Running Back Rank: #6All Players: #8
McCoy saw a dip in production last year with the Eagles. His rushing totals were fine (more than 1,300) but he averaged just 4.2 yards per carry and 28 receptions. He didn't break off as many big runs last year and saw a big drop in his passing game production. The addition of Darren Sproles took many targets away from McCoy in the passing game. McCoy did have more than 300 carries, though, giving him more than 300 carries two straight seasons. He is just 27 years old but has a lot of touches in his six-year NFL career. McCoy probably isn't hitting the wall just yet but getting a few less touches this season wouldn't be a huge surprise. McCoy is an elusive back with great hands. He just makes plays in space. McCoy also is a much better runner these days between the tackles, making some tough runs throughout the past few seasons. He is an integral piece of Chip Kelly's offense, giving him a ton of touches per game.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
His lack of scores last season (five) was the big issue for McCoy. The rest of his numbers were alright. But if he isn't getting the goal-line work, which is possible again this year, McCoy isn't an elite fantasy back. For now, expect around 1,500 total yards and 10 scores with 35 or so catches.

comments about LeSean McCoy

Notes

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy strikes more fear into defenses than Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray, according to a top personnel executive. 'I'll take McCoy over Murray every time,' the personnel executive said. 'When you played the Eagles, you feared McCoy. He was the guy who scared you the most. When you played Dallas, you didn't fear Murray. He's good. But you didn't fear him. You feared Dez (Bryant), or (Tony) Romo, but not Murray.'

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy hasn't seen a lot of action against AFC East teams in his career. However, when he has played against them, he hasn't seen much success. In four career games against AFC East opponents, McCoy has averaged only 62.8 rushing yards per game and 3.8 yards per carry. He has, however, scored seven times in those four games.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy is expected to receive 300 carries this season, according to teammate RB Fred Jackson. 'I don't know exactly what my role is going to be, Jackson said. 'They say that they want Shady (McCoy) to get 300-plus carries next year. So that's a guy you're feeding the ball all the time. So I'll be ready when my number is called.'

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (neck) was limited during organized team activities Wednesday, May 27, because of a neck injury. Head coach Rex Ryan said McCoy's injury is not serious.

Buffalo Bills RBs LeSean McCoy and Fred Jackson could split third-down snaps. Head coach Rex Ryan said Jackson wouldn't be in on all of the third-down plays and that Anthony Dixon would also get some playing time.

The Philadelphia Eagles traded RB LeSean McCoy to the Buffalo Bills because head coach Chip Kelly desires a one-cut running back, according to Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. Lurie praised McCoy as a player, but the move was not financially driven. Kelly felt he could garner more production from a different running back or two. Lurie used the term 'power spread' on multiple occasions to describe Kelly's offense. RBs DeMarco Murray, Darren Sproles and Ryan Mathews figure to share the work.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles March 4, and Bills head coach Rex Ryan said the trade took 30 minutes to wrap up. 'The trade for LeSean happened really quick,' Ryan said at the NFL owners meetings. 'We were all sitting there. We were having organizational meetings. ... And all of the sudden we get this call from Philadelphia and I think that was when the trade started. Probably 30 minutes later, the trade was done.'

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy was referred to as the team's 'bellcow' by head coach Rex Ryan. Ryan said that McCoy and RB Fred Jackson could see time on third downs.

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy should receive plenty of carries if head coach Rex Ryan has his way. 'We prefer to ground and pound it, we're going to run it 50 times if we can on you,' Ryan said Friday, March 20.
