Summary

Wide Receiver Rank: #157All Players: #437
Tate played every game last season but didn't record a reception for the Bengals. He got his work on special teams, serving as the return man on both kicks and punts. He averaged a solid 23.8 yards per return on kicks and 10.6 yards on punts. Tate even returned a punt for a touchdown. His value remains on special teams. Tate's career high in receptions is 24 but he doesn't have a reception two of three seasons in the league. He does have three return scores for his career, though, and will continue to get plenty of work on special teams. Tate is a playmaker. He has explosive speed and solid moves in space. His route running isn't polished, which hurts his chances to get much work as a receiver.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Tate is a solid play in leagues that reward return yardage but is a big stretch in those that don't. He'll be lucky to get double-digit receptions.

comments about Brandon Tate

Notes

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon Tate appears to be the leading candidate for the No. 5 wide receiver job entering offseason workouts and training camp. Tate may split punt return duties with CB Adam Jones if he makes the team.

The Cincinnati Bengals have agreed to terms with free-agent WR Brandon Tate (Bengals) on a one-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Fantasy Impact: Tate will serve a similar role to last season, helping on special teams while getting limited work in the passing game.

Impending free-agent WR Brandon Tate (Bengals) might not be re-signed, as he was too inconsistent as a return man and he struggled as a receiver in 2012. If the team re-signs impending free-agent CB Adam Jones, he'll likely be used as the return man, making Tate's re-signing even less likely.

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton indicated WRs Brandon Tate, Armon Binns and Mohamed Sanu may rotate at the starting wide receiver spot opposite WR A.J. Green. Offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said his playing calling would be the same with whichever receiver is in the game.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon Tate has been listed as a starting wide receiver opposite A.J. Green and ahead of WR Armon Binns on the team's first depth chart of training camp. Tate dealt with hamstring problems last week but returned to practice and played in the team's scrimmage Sunday, Aug. 5, catching a touchdown. Rookie Mohamaed Sanu was listed fourth on the depth chart.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon Tate may not make the final roster if he does not perform well during training camp and the preseason.
Fantasy Impact: Tate might have a chance to start but it seems his spot on the team is tenuous.

Cincinnati Bengals WR Brandon Tate impressed during offseason workouts, and he took most of his snaps with the first-team offseason. If he is able to land a meaningful role, it would be the first time in his career that he has done so. To date, he has 24 total receptions for 432 yards and just three touchdowns.
Fantasy Impact: Tate might be worth a late-round flier come draft day. He could have a much bigger role in the offense.

Cincinnati Bengals WRs Brandon Tate and Armon Binns are believed to be the frontrunners for the No. 2 wide receiver job during training camp.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden said WR Brandon Tate was one of the standout players during workouts this offseason. 'He's been one of the best surprises of camp for me,' said Gruden. 'Last year he came in late (after being acquired on waivers from New England) and was mainly a return guy and our fifth receiver and never really got in the flow with the group at wide receiver. Now I think he's more confident, he sees that he belongs as an NFL wide receiver, and I think the confidence level that he has is showing. He's got all the ability. He runs all of the routes great, he's got great feel, and he's done an outstanding job.'
Fantasy Impact: Tate has some talent and could emerge as the starter if he keeps playing well.
