Summary

Wide Receiver Rank: #54
Overall: #165

Knox had a little bit of an up and down season. He had some big games but also disappeared in others. He wasn't too consistent but his overall numbers didn't look too bad in the end. He had more than 700-receiving yards and caught 37 passes. In the last two seasons, Knox averages 44 receptions for 844 yards and four touchdowns per season. He will compete for a starting spot this season but nothing is guaranteed with a new offensive coordinator, a coordinator that should be a lot more run heavy. Knox could see a decrease in playing time with the Bears using more two-receiver sets. Knox has blazing speed and big-play ability. He does a great job of making a big play out of a short catch (16.6 yards per reception for his career). Knox also has plus hands and his route running continues to make strides.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Knox seems setup for a down season. We just don't see an increase in targets. He'll still have some big games because of his big-play ability but he'll be inconsistent. A season with 500 or 600 yards and a few scores seems about right for Knox this year. He is a deep reserve for fantasy teams.

Notes

Chicago Bears general manager Phil Emery said WR Johnny Knox (back) continues to make progress; however, there is no timetable for his return at this point. 'He has made progress and will continue to make progress. As I've told him, ultimately it'll be him that will decide when he comes back,' Emery said. 'It'll be him telling us where he's at in the rehab process. We're a long way from having to make that decision and we're going to lean heavily on Johnny helping us make that decision. Johnny's made every effort to get back as quick as he can, and he is making progress. Yeah, you want to be cautious because it was a tough injury. It was a heavy-contact injury. Johnny understands where he's at. He's going to keep pushing forward, and there couldn't be a Bear with a better attitude than him.'

Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith said Wednesday, March 28, it's 'a little early' to cast predictions on the potential return of WR Johnny Knox (back), who continues to rehabilitate from a serious back injury suffered in December. 'It would be hard for me to go into that right there,' Smith said. 'Are you a religious man? Do you talk to God? He can probably tell you. Besides that, it's going to be pretty hard.' Sources close to Knox maintain he hasn't experienced any setbacks in his recovery. One source said Knox potentially starting the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list is 'news to us,' and added that the receiver is prepping to play in 2012.
