Summary

Kicker Rank: #38
Overall: #509

Buehler had plenty of his struggles his first season as the starting kicker in Dallas, but kept the job all year and finished with an impressive 114 points. The big issue for Buehler was missing some easy kicks for a starting NFL kicker. He was just 4-of-7 from 30 to 39 yards. Buehler will need to do much better in that area if he hopes to keep starting for the Cowboys. Buehler has a strong leg, though, and did well with long-distance kicks last season, going 4-of-6 from 50-plus yards. He has a lot of potential and upside because of his ability, but nothing will be handed to him, especially if he shows some struggles in camp and preseason action.
FANTASY OUTLOOK
Buehler is a risk because his job isn't too secure, but as long as he is starting for the Cowboys, he can score around 120 points in that offense. Consider him a low-end No. 1 but get a competent backup or have someone you can turn to on the waiver wire if you end up taking Buehler.

Notes

The Dallas Cowboys released PK David Buehler. Buehler was a fifth-round draft choice in 2009 and finishes his career with the Cowboys hitting 24-of-32 field goals and 42-of-44 extra points. As a kickoff specialist, he had a total of 60 touchbacks. He spent most of the 2011 season on Injured Reserve with a groin injury.
Fantasy Impact: He might have a hard time finding work this day and age. He isn't the best place kicker. His value was leg strength, which isn't needed as much with the new rules in place.

The Dallas Cowboys could consider releasing PK David Buehler this offseason because PK Dan Bailey has shown he can handle the field goal and kickoff duties. The team would save $1.26 million if they wanted to release Buehler.
Fantasy Impact: It would make sense to just cut ties with Buehler. The Cowboys really don't need him around.

Dallas Cowboys PK David Buehler (groin), the team's kickoff specialist, feels he'll be ready to return in Week 7 against the St. Louis Rams. He kicked a little bit last week, but he has picked up the pace over the past two days. 'I wanted to get out this past week but it didn't feel ready and they wanted to get a full week of kicking before I actually get in the game,' Buehler said.
